Why do trains slow down under water?
to let the fish past

Q: Do mirror images created by the wizard casting Slow Time: Time Warp increase the damage recieved by 10%?

habmalnefrageUsing the Diablo 3 Wizard Spell "Mirror Images" or "Teleport: Fracture", do the created mirror images make use of this secondary effect? theoretical build example: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#QlgkSd!RWeS!YZbZYb Slow Time: Time Warp - 10% more damage from all sources to enemies...

Stronger friction as opposed to air?
@fredley "Speed limit to prevent tunnel collapse", I assume.
@FEichinger Shoddy tunnels
15:03
It's nonsensical, but makes for a nice game mechanic, I suppose.
@MattЭллен the game has a limit of 5 lines btw
@fredley because the water creates extra drag, duh
@fredley I agree, that's just a thing that doesn't happen in real metros
I guess it's there to give you a little extra thing to worry about though
In the end it's not too bad.
394, new record
15:07
(In previous builds, they capped the amount of bridges you could make but trains could go through at full speed.)

Q: Do mirror images created by the wizard get the bonus from Magic Weapon: Ignite and (passive) Conflagration

habmalnefrageUsing the Diablo 3 Wizard Spell "Mirror Images" or "Teleport: Fracture", do the created mirror images make use of both effects? theoretical build example: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#QlgkSd!RWeS!YZbZYb Magic Weapon: Ignite - added fire damage to all attacks Passive Conflagrati...

also Matlab 2014a is out. God help us all
It's even got Raspberry Pi support. WTF.
Does arqade get a lot of matlab questions?
@MattЭллен ... yes! All the time
No. It's just, argh Matlab.
15:09
@GnomeSlice Accidentally read this as, "I like to do beautiful asian women."
Classic @GnomeSlice
How to get the best highscore in matlab, what the cheat codes are, what this copy pasted error log means
@KevinvanderVelden They removed the score counter :(
How do I beat the final boss of Matlab
(flops)
@badp I was kinda excited to hear that you could get a free version of matlab for Raspberry Pi
15:09
@badp well jeah, you have to know the proper cheat codes
@BenBrocka How do I eat the corpse of the final boss of Matlab
@badp Should I eat the corpse of the final boss of Matlab?
How do I people in Matlab
@BenBrocka How many corpses of the final boss of Matlab can I eat before I get pregnant?
Do mirror images created by matlab get the golden ratio bonus?
15:11
Last time I left @Wipqozn with my copy of Matlab he got a cow pregnant
@MattЭллен The License Overlord banished me to Octave help
yeah, that looked really cool. Not a fan of the name though
@BenBrocka Squirting words directly into your brain
I really like this
15:18
it doesn't help on stack exchange. it just displayed to me all the links at the bottom.
none of the useful content of the question
@MattЭллен It reads me the answer, but not the question
ah
there weren't any answer to that one...
But you can select the text you want it to read
@fredley whoa
I'm comfortable at 550 wpm, which is insane
15:19
@fredley I wonder if this bookmarklet works with pdfs viewed in chrome
@KevinvanderVelden Maybe!
Seems like no
I can already read at about 400 wpm from normal (English, German or Polish) text, this one just gives me headache while not being helpful much at all.
Course, there are tools for that so
No :(
@MartinSojka What happens if you dial the speed up above 400?
15:20
@fredley that's not working for me
@fredley I get annoyed that it displays just one word at a time. And headache.
come on people, are we gonna be THAT lazy now that we can't move our eyeballs while reading?
In normal text, I typically read clusters of two to five words at a time.
@Chippies It's not about being lazy, it's about reading faster (and if it doesn't help you read faster well, don't use it)
we don't even have to read each word to understand the meaning
Isn't speed reading the art of not reading one word at a time?
if you skip over sentences, your mind will fill the gaps
@GnomeSlice Phew. I dont, thankfully.
reading every word is just too much work and as @MartinSojka said - gives me a headache
@Chippies do better at english
15:23
@GnomeSlice do better at any other language
@GnomeSlice That's nothing new there. angry stare at steam library
@GnomeSlice so as a lot of people predicted, taking it off the market was just a marketing trick
@BenBrocka Ah, memories.

Q: I've impregnated a cow. How long until it gives birth?

WipqoznMy cow is pregnant, but the game doesn't include any instructions for pregnancy, so I'm not sure how long it takes for the cow to give birth. Furthermore, how long after birth does it take the baby cow to produce milk?

15:25
@Chippies I think it's more of a courtesy statement, rather than 'I'm actually bringing it back'
we'll see
@GnomeSlice so that's how bees kill you in minecraft! CC: @Arperum
@Wipqozn I have come to the conclusion that this game is no longer worth playing. :(
@Frank So stop playing it
@Arperum You up for some more Diablo?
15:27
BTW @GnomeSlice, the graphic doesn't tell anything about the selection criteria for the survey, so it might be just biased to hell and back.
@MartinSojka it also seems to be self reporting which adds another layer of bias
@Frank I should do some more work first. but blergh. I guess that's a yes. I'll be online in a sec...
Isn't Dear Esther the walking simulator on an island?
That's... um...
15:32
(As opposed to Oblivion, which is a walking simulator in a pseudo-medieval fantasy setting)
FAE
FAE
@GnomeSlice Oooh. I loved the environments in Dear Esther.
@MartinSojka Proteus!
@FAE I got mad at that, I spent 5 minutes walking along a coast and got stuck. Gave up and didn't try it again
@MattЭллен dear esther is also on an island I think
@BenBrocka oh, right. I've not played it :D
I quite liked proteus
15:35
@FEichinger WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP LINKING THESE THINGS? WHAT IS IT?
@OrigamiRobot Crowdsourcing further Tubes development.
@OrigamiRobot A GAME, AUTOCADBOT.
@MattЭллен I liked proteus a lot. Partly because I didn't get stuck. Would have appreciated a run button though
@FEichinger make the olympic loops!
@MattЭллен I think that might even be a viable design.
15:36
@FEichinger AUTOCADBOTS, ROLL OUT
@OrigamiRobot Mini Metro
@Frank I'm glad I ruined it for you.
@BenBrocka I liked chasing the bunny like things and making the mushroom like things make noises
FAE
FAE
@fredley This does not go fast enough for me. :(
@FAE You can dial up the speed
FAE
FAE
15:39
@fredley I mean 950 is not fast enough.
Does it go higher?
@FAE FAE IS A ROBOT: DATA ACCEPTED
FAE
FAE
@fredley I read roughly 1,100-1,200 wpm or so.
@FAE Arts degree?
FAE
FAE
@fredley No degree.
@fredley Is this done by the same people who do Spritz?
I recently heard about that.
@FAE Nah, some people who saw that and copied it :P
@FAE How did you learn to read that fast?
FAE
FAE
15:41
@fredley I dunno. I just read. I started reading when I was 2 and a half or so; I don't remember learning how or not knowing how to read.
@FAE That's amazing
FAE
FAE
It's why I don't prefer audiobooks, because they're slower for me.
FAE
FAE
From what I understand, my mom read to me when I was a little and I just took to it well.
I moved to America from China when I was 2. Didn't know English, so I couldn't talk to the other kids in the daycare/preschool. I don't remember how I learned to read, but I just spent the entire time at daycare with my nose in books.
15:46
@MartinSojka I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THOSE WORDS MEAN IN THAT ORDER
I remember reading chapter books in kindergarten though.
10 mins ago, by GnomeSlice
@OrigamiRobot Mini Metro
@Yuki I think education in general could be sped up quite a bit, at least in the us
@FAE I PREFER AUDIOBOOKS BECAUSE THEY'RE SLOWER
I ALWAYS GET TOO FAR AHEAD OF MYSELF WHEN READING.
@BenBrocka Honestly, I think prekindergarten and kindergarten should be spent developing social skills. I find those harder to grasp than anything else.
15:48
Dude is curious about Mirror Image!
Okay, who have I not added to my friends list on D3?
FAE
FAE
@Yuki I apparently had a 6th grade reading level in kindergarten or something. They wanted to advance me ahead a grade, but my parents wouldn't let them, which I am, in retrospect, really really thankful for
@Yuki Then they should be actually oriented toward that, I don't recall them being very useful...well, at all, but for that, either
@Yuki Me. But I don't play D3
@FAE Unfortunately, I did skip first grade.
In retrospect, a terrible idea.
15:50
@FAE This is why I hate video tutorials.
FAE
FAE
@Yuki It would've been a social nightmare for me. I had girl scouts with a troop where everyone else was in the grade ahead of me and it was awful.
@Garan Yes, this so much.
I'm never certain skipping a grade is a good idea. It puts you in the wrong group socially.

Q: Do my arcane spells hit harder if my mirror images cast Wave of Force: Arcane Attunement?

habmalnefrageUsing the Diablo 3 Wizard Spell "Mirror Images" or "Teleport: Fracture", do I get the arcane damage bonus if my mirror images cast Wave of Force: Arcane Attunement or is the bonus linked/limited to the mirror image? theoretical build example: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#QlgkSd!R...

I don't always speedread, but when I do, I read pages in around 10 seconds.
15:50
For me, it gave me the double whammy of being younger than everyone (impairing me socially) and gave me some crippling overconfidence regarding schoolwork.
@FAE I wonder if this would be better if we didn't train people be be so incredibly niche in their social groups as kids. 1 year...really shouldn't matter as much as it does even at that age. Being a kid is really fucking weird
@JasonBerkan EH, I WAS ALREADY IN THE WRONG GROUP SOCIALLY.
To this day, I wonder if I would have a better work ethic if I didn't skip a grade.
FAE
FAE
@BenBrocka In developmental terms though, 1 year is pretty big at 5 and 6.
@OrigamiRobot I mean, developmentally. When you are young, a year is a big difference.
FAE
FAE
15:51
Like, we look back and are like "It shouldn't be a big deal" but we're in our 20s now.
I was among people, hence the wrong social group.
@FAE yeah, but we're also trained pretty hard that you are NOT to interact with those drooling cretins that you used to be a year ago or those strange aliens that you will be in a year
@JasonBerkan ALL MY COUSINS SAVE 1 WERE OLDER THAN ME SO IT WAS PAR FOR THE COURSE.
and it continues well into high school...then college too, to a degree
@BenBrocka Eh, I'm actually going to the the weird guy a year older than most.
Mostly because of the gap year.
15:54
THEN, BY THE TIME I WAS A SENIOR, ALL MY FRIENDS WERE YOUNGER THAN ME
FAE
FAE
@BenBrocka Yeah, that's also true.
I'm sometimes concerned about my eldest. He was born in December and we started him in school when he was 4. There are kids in his grade that are almost 2 full years older than he is.
FAE
FAE
@JasonBerkan So he was 4 in kindergarten? :o
@FAE Four when he started. Five when he finished.

Q: Does (passive) Cold Blooded apply to enemies if they were frozen by my mirror images and not me?

habmalnefrageUsing the Diablo 3 Wizard Spell "Mirror Images" or "Teleport: Fracture", do the created mirror images make use of passive effects? theoretical build example: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#QlgkSd!RWeS!YZbZYb Cold Blooded - Do enemies frozen/chilled by my mirror images count as "fr...
