Why does everybody ignore people?

There's little motivation to turn off ignore since there's rarely a given impetus to do that. So whether it's for someone who there's big differences or because of a paltry disagreement or anything in between, ignore settings usually stick.

And at the end of the day, especially if you are the kind of person who tries to be friends with everyone you know, you come to realize that there are people who are fundamentally incompatible with others. They won't be able to be friendly for each other for a variety of reasons. Is mediation possible? Yes. But it's hard, and for some conflicts, the ignore function lets a general peace be maintained and both sides are happier.

Even before I became a Community Manager, I spent a great deal of my time basically being in the middle of feuds between people I call friends. Some people won't like other people and when the only means to change that opinion is for people to change in ways they don't want, reconciliation isn't a direction.
