Second question: When The Witcher 2 claims it has a mature story, is this a subtle allusion to the...ahem...maturity of the many women involved therein?
Quick poll: If I'm giving you 20 seconds to vote for something in the middle of a game, would you want to: A. Choose between 5 randomly selected items on one page. B. Choose between 10 randomly selected items spread across two pages (with previous/next buttons). C. Choose between 30 items spread across 6 pages (with previous/next buttons). ?
@Mana I kind of wish they just wouldn't bother with the gratuitous sex. It's like the games just jump around, yelling "HA HA! LOOK AT US! WE ARE SO MATURE! LOOK AT ALL THE BOOBIES!" Just a little bit of subtlety would go a long way.
@Powerlord The last option, but only with a Next button. No previous. Keeps things moving.
In a mission of Freespace 2, I'm asked to destroy all four of the Sathanas' beam turrets before it engages its subspace drives to go attack the Colossus. This is very difficult. Even when I constantly fire both guns at the tips of the turrets and use up all of both my Helios and other missiles, I...
I would like to be able to make comments on edits. I imagine this could be implemented by addressing and @-comment at any of the editors of a post. So if user X has edited a post, and write a comment starting with @X, that user gets notified.
This would be useful for discussing edits or providin...
The following is somewhat of a spoiler, to avoid it being shown in the question excerpt, I'm filling the space with useless boilerplate.
I'm near the end of the first chapter and I'm now facing Letho, the kingslayer and witcher. And I'm getting my ass kicked thoroughly and completely. I haven't ...
That leaves just @MatthewRead as the only sap who hasn't gotten it. And possibly @tzenes. Though it would wholly ironic if tzenes was the last person to receive it.
@Resorath It's a new game that came out two days ago.
The Android market has a lot of apps now, and for the most part almost anything that could only be done on the iPhone a couple of years ago is now possible on Android. The app stores have become quite competitive and comparable.
However, one thing that appears to be missing from the Android Mark...
But I think this game is perfect for the first try. It's a really great game with a completely useless tutorial, lots of poorly explained game mechanics and a very steep learning curve.
@GraceNote Was there ever an actual number put forward for how much rep or other community participation score was required to get in on the GSECPG? Or is it kind of a decide on an individual basis thing?
@Resorath Alright, shall do. By the way, was there a campaign made to continue the FS2 plot? The ending kind of left a lot open about the Shivans and the fate of pretty much everything.
You're... pretty much at my whim, honestly speaking. I could tell you "It's based on my understanding of your general participation level, how often you ask questions, the general quality of your questions, and whether or not I've been observing your participation habits and thus know your likelihood of asking questions".
Which it is, but you can all collapse that into a monotone "It's at my whim and discretion, ohoho..." to keep it simple.
@GraceNote If the whole scheme works we should set up some rules at some point. While the primary purpose is to get great questions & answers, I think one part should be a reward for prior contributions to the site. So that we can motivate some people even more to participate in the site.
But, for example, there are about 6 people that I know that don't have particularly high reputation, but they do tend to ask a fair number of questions and otherwise participate.
So that's why I'm not exactly fond of setting a strict "You must be THIS tall to ride" reputation barrier and instead will go more on the basis of how much they actually participate, and the quality therein.
@Fabian We will probably institute some bare minimum of both account age and some "score" factor based on reputation and number of contributions. But I'd like that to serve more as a trash filter than a selector, if only because any kind of selector would have to be terribly strong.
@GraceNote Yeah, I could see how it would be a little tricky. On one hand, people may want to know what line they have to cross to qualify, which is hard if there isn't a specific number you can point them to. On the other hand, it would suck if some active people were excluded simply because they lack the rep.
@GraceNote I'm not advocating a high barrier, but I think the chance to get a free game is a nice motivator. If we set a reasonably achievable barrier it might get some more people to participate.
@sjohnston I'm pretty sure a whole lot of the people who were selected for this most recent session have, to be honest, mediocre Meta rep. Also, one of your highest Meta rep users doesn't post all that many questions.
pff, then its not a game. so many times i considered visiting gamefaqs on how to beat portal2. im glad I didn't. I guess the games I just play have their own community, which is kinda a limiting factor for this kind of site
It's true. There are massive communities for games such as Starcraft, Smash Bros., Minecraft, and Civilization, and we only have a very small fraction of each of them here.
Do you know if any of your Smash communities happens to have a complete mapping of Sticker bonuses to which attacks each character uses that benefit from them?
I haven't checked on this stuff for about a year, but when I last checked, no one bothered to have anything remotely comprehensive, and every guide actually conflicted with each other, anyway.
Jeepers, a lot of the ones I know didn't care about the single player stuff at all, but I can try to dig that up, I'm pretty sure there are people enthusiastic about that
I considered posting a Q&A on our site about it, but I didn't want to go "Everywhere else is all contradictory and incomplete!" without some confirmation that, indeed, they remain contradictory and incomplete.
Well, there you go. We'll work ourselves up to be the top resource on it because we're the only people that bothered to figure it all out. Provided, of course, someone has the ability to do that research.
Ouchu. It was harsh when my N64 got stolen. Losing a Wii is quite a tad more stinging... you have my condolences.
@Matthew I can't see replies in this view, so I don't even remember what I said, so is that a "Sadly, yes, I haven't gotten it yet", or "Sadly, yes, and I'm getting my face punched in by the difficulty"?
Hrm. Curious. By the way, don't know if you two got the update or not, but the packages were ordered through Amazon.ca, they imposed the extended shipping time.
I have neither read the novel The Witcher is based on, nor played the first game in the series, so I'm a little bit confused: is there a particular reason that only females have magical power? It seems that everywhere I go I'm tripping over one sorceress or the other, but never a sorcerer.

I read in 1.0.1 changelog that
Players who haven't cheated will no
longer be flagged as a cheater.
and I am wondering how a player can be flagged as cheater?
We have been playing with the idea of having community contributed reviews about new game releases, for this we will require a set of interesting review questions which we could ask to random community users on the chat and perhaps by leaving a comment on one or two of the game's first questions ...
I was able to build a bed in Terraria and I thought it could allow me to sleep. By clicking on it, instead, I set only the spawn point.
Is it possible sleep in other ways or eventually skip nights (or days)?
The remember as a kid I would go to the local arcade and play these games. Hopefully someone here can help me identify the names of them.
The first one is like an action adventure sci fi game. It's a co op two player game that allows you to choose between two future universal soldier type dudes...
It's midday now, and I have to meet up with someone at night. If I do side quests for a while, will it eventually become night and allow me to fulfill that quest? Or do I specifically have to meditate for a while in order to change the time to night?
