@barlop i don't believe so. looking on the Sony Store PS4 Consoles are more expensive than the starter pack i can't imagine reducing the storage from 500GB would make the console cheap enough that adding the VR kit would still make less than a console by itself

also the carton dimensions of the VR Kit are smaller than even a PS4 Slim's which you'd expect to be bigger if the 2 were together

Obviously you don't want to do the last one, but any of the earlier 2 options are viable options to deal with emotional trauma

@GnomeSlice going purely on what's on chat.stackexchange.com/users/56?tab=recent -- let me try and channel some of the wisdom I've gathered from this polyamory/relationship debugging discord I've been in. An important thing to do is accept that you're hurting, and this sucks, but hurting is also a completely natural and healthy reaction to the emotional trauma you're going through.

My personal experience is very limited, but it tells me that trying to bargain with your lizard brain and talking your feelings away doesn't work.

So for at least a while, you're just going to have to manage your pain somehow, for example by treating yourself to nice things and having a bunch of "me" time. Go do fun things, have long relaxing baths, do some self care, pick up a new hobby, or otherwise make sure that you can go back to a place where you can love or at least be happy with yourself

For a while, your world is going to be inward focused to get through this, to figure out what you like and what feels good for you in the middle of all the omg heartache storm.

I've recently realised that a. I've got a bunch of self esteem and jealousy and fear of abandonment problems, b. it is actually incredibly common for people to struggle in these ways (which I found surprising), and c. now that I'm giving myself credit for the things I do and I started caring a little more about myself and being more honest and open with those around me, things are looking up for me

Went from ~20m to less than a second.

I am adding thousands of lines of data from a json file to influxdb fwiw.

So it was calling jq ~3 times per each field, and curl after that.

On python I open the json once, prepare the data to send to influx (before I did this it took like 5m), then send them all at once.

Yeah, I find bash/zsh extremely relaxing to write but it really is not a good choice for performance.

Man, I remember the arcade shooter grip. Non-dominant hand held the gun and aimed while you stuck the index finger of your dominant hand in the trigger guard and shook it to get off shots as quickly as possible.

The local barcade has a couple japanese cabinets and I wish I could figure out how to select the game on them, since one has Windjammers on it which is really fun

@barlop it depends on the resolution of the TV. the PS4 Pro's benefit is that you can either play at the same resolution at 60 FPS (PS4 basic is usually only 30), or at 4K resolution (which is 4X full HD)

yeah, the diagonal of your TV doesn't matter as much as the resolution. If it was marketed as Full HD, it's a 1920*1080 TV, and if it was marked as 4K, it's, well, 4K (3840*2160)

But honestly

I wouldn't buy a PS4 anymore. At the end of the year, the PS5 will release and it's already been advertised as backwards compatible with PS4 games

@PrivatePansy Let me clarify: in Chrome, I had a separate Chrome profile that I used to separate my every day browsing from my browsing aimed at NSFW stuff. So I could just open that profile and it'd automatically open that profile with Reddit logged into my NSFW account. I'd do my thing and then close the window and it'd remember my tabs. Does Containers allow me to do the same, I.e. open a container tab in a separate window with a site already open?

@barlop Honestly, the price difference between a small SATA SSD (note, you should get a SATAIII SSD for a PS4) of 250 GB and one that's 1 TB is fairly negligible (44 compared to 105 EUR), so if you can afford it, a 1 TB SSD is more futureproof

(the other half is that modern consoles are complicated enough that they do have shutdown procedures -- and have since the PS3 -- and if you just push the button it either goes to sleep, or blanks the screen and initiates that shutdown, either of which you can easily configure a PC to do.)

Which is not to say that PCs aren't more complicated than consoles in other ways.

Yeah, pressing the power button on the Switch doesn't actually turn it off, it just sends it to sleep mode.

To turn it off, you have to hold the power button until the context menu pops up and then select shut down.

Yeah, this has been the case for 15 years or so (PSP/PS3 era).
