speaking of preconfigured routers - I figured I'd hook up a second router to the ISP's modem downstairs to create a second wifi network for better coverage. Turns out that only the first ethernet port on the modem works and it only accepts the ISP's router, unless you have a fancy router that allows it to be configured to mimic the ISP's router

Need to set it up a certain way (which you can't really tell how, because the ISP router doesn't show what settings it uses to connect to modem) and that's not really helping me anyway, because I wanted a second router hooked up to the modem, but according to the internet, only the first port works

I could connect the 2nd router to the 1st router, but that defeats the whole purpose, because I need the 2nd router downstairs (where the modem is) and the 1st router is upstairs (so I'd need a long cable to get the 2nd router downstairs)

Someone security-conscious would choose a strong password, remember it, and not use WPS because they know the password already.

(or, sure, they might use WPS buttons just for convenience, but still. They'd also be a lot more likely to put their router in a place where not anybody in their house can get onto their network)
