@Chippies dhcp gives out IP addresses and other network related information. Then it's unused for hours. The router transfers traffic to the internet. It doesn't care what the traffic is

Also, more to your question, I'm pretty sure DHCP is done over UDP, not TCP. You don't need to know where to send your packets, you just need to hope someone is listening.

@SaintWacko I'd check those configs. pi-hole may not have used the proper settings
