we really should have waited for the PS4 before all these HD remasters so they could actually be 1080/60FPS
So weird to have "remasters" that still have pretty poor IQ (the Tales Of game was more of a port than a remaster, I guess they never used "HD" in it's marketing though)
@Frank ToS Chronicles is definitely worth the asking price for ToS1. Though it's not enough of an upgrade if you already have it IMO
The game itself is a classic (ToS2 less so). Was a bit disapointed it's 720p with what looks like FXAAx2 at best and mostly original (bad) textures. Character textures look a little cleaned up
@5pike I guess the image quality upgrade was actually pretty big
After ToS2 I'm a bit cautious about Xillia 2
It's possible they planned it out better this time, but ToS2 was very shoddily put together story-wise and really fails to deliver on basically the only thing people wanted (to play and rejoin the cast of ToS 1, they're minor, temp party members now)
Yggdra Union could be a great game if THAT aspect were removed as well as the INSANE hidden/missable items crap and how the leveling system basically requires you to stick with the same team forever because XP is limited
@5pike This is one of the problems in Yggdra I had the least problem with. Dying isn't a big deal, but no revisiting areas and missable items make it awful. It's entirely possible to enter a map (and you can ONLY play that map) that's basically impossible with your units/levels/equips
I really hope the "play the whole game again with minor difficulty improvements!" thing isn't a trend in JRPGs. It's not a genre that needs more padding
@BenBrocka I don't remember specifically what that means. I just remember getting to a level where 80% of my characters were literally worthless because the laws forbade all their useful skills.
@Powerlord It's "fun" to die, but it isn't fun to die. The "fun" comes in because in theory, in a balanced roguelike you'd be able to avoid the same fate again. I guess I can see the fun in people trying to find a way to execute flawlessly in FE, but that's not how I enjoy games.
@Powerlord To me, it all depends on the amount of time spent. Roguelikes are often replayable and shorter. If I spend 30 hours just to find out that I need to do it again because of choices I made earlier...
I wonder how FE copes if you let major characters die. There must be a plot that relies on certain people being alive. Do you just lose the game if they die with permadeath on?
@StrixVaria Some version make them "crippled" (can't be used in fights anymore, but hang around for cutscenes). Others just don't give a damn; their story ends right there.
@StrixVaria the sad part is after spending hours playing insanely boring minigames your only thing to do with the weapons is spend hours fighting insanely boring Penance
@MartinSojka I like the idea here, but it's hard to account for all the possible intersections of who is dead. Each new character doubles the space of possible sets of living characters.
@MartinSojka I hate it because it either requires a much lower difficulty level, insane amounts of reloading, or it requires create-a-character and almost no attachment to characters
the ability to revive makes battles mechanically different, as well as allowing the game in general to be much harder, since I can kill MOST of you in any given encounter and you can still carry on
Although I guess that's similar to the Walking Dead games. The main story is the same, but only the smaller details are different depending on your choices.
Bonus points if you take away control from the player during this cutscene who then does nothing to avoid that death and gets blamed for 30 hours afterwards for it in a extremely long jail escape derail
@StrixVaria The child mechanic of the game means you can get a different cast of character on replay. The difference they make to the actual story isn't hugely significant though, I believe
especially if it were just blitzball, since it's actually a game (even though I dont' like it). But blitzball + lightning+chocobo racing and probably a few I'm forgetting
When I tried to reply to a comment on one of my videos, it asked me which user/identity/whatever I wanted to use to comment and gave my real name (= personal G+ account) as the only choice
and when I commented I got a notification about my own comment... facedesk
Also the FFX sphere grid was still way better than FFXIII's...thing. It was kind of like the sphere grid except each character had a unique one (i.e. no customization) and it was just a curvy line with no branching (i.e. no customization).
@OrigamiRobot The main advantage I see is that it syncs between devices. So if I'm mid-conversation on my computer and have to leave, I can still see the full conversation on my phone. Talk didn't do that.
@OrigamiRobot All stuff should go to every signed in device until you look at it on any device, and then the notification should go away on all other devices.
@BenBrocka If you play through the story normally (I.E. just go and beat Sin), you will never go into the more detailed aspect of it (the one where you branch into other characters paths).
Xillia has sort of a super simple version of FFx's totally unlocked sphere grid. Was interesting at first but eventually I was just waiting and pressing "auto allocate" every half hour
@OrigamiRobot That definitely is going to cause issues. Hangouts on PC has an awful UI, though. I honestly can't even comprehend how they were able to make it so bad.
I was wondering what's the max loot that can be stolen while raiding a player or while being raid by another player ?
If I have 500k gold and 600k Elexir, would that mean that they can stole all my stuff ? If not what's the percentage or maximum amount to be looted ?
