11:00 PM
Yeah, I am not sure popsicle fingers is my thing :P

Action base painted! Crappily.
I should have taken it apart more.

Blink 182 played The Bronze (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) back in the day?

@FAE Ooooh, you meant just for your nails. I thought you were actually bathing in a tub of ice.

11:30 PM
@Wipqozn They're talking fingernail painting.

user15026
@FAE I did learn one thing - new bottles of polish chip less than old ones :P I thought I just failed hard at nail polish :P

@badp I know.

user15026
@Wipqozn That would be so not fun

@AshleyNunn I was really confused.

user15026
@Wipqozn You would need so much ice!

FAE
11:34 PM
@AshleyNunn nail polish definitely goes bad

It's not only the fact that it'd be really painful and cold, no, just, the logistics of the ice :P

user15026
@FAE This is a thing I learned. So I need to replace a few colours :)

user15026
@Unionhawk Practicality comes first :P

FAE
@AshleyNunn it gets all thick and stuff. It is possible to rethin it out and make it usable again with nail polish thinner.

user15026
@FAE I didn't know that was a thing! I did notice it was thick and weird, but I was like "MUST MAKE FINGERS PRETTY"

11:41 PM
Why didn't I watch Buffy during its original run? Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alison Hannigan were so cute back then. Not that they aren't now, or anything.

@MBraedley I have that on my to watch list as well, since I missed it too

FAE
@MBraedley still never seen it

@FAE I think I've asked this before, but can you get Netflix? And if so is Buffy available on it over there?

FAE
@MBraedley we have Dutch Netflix now, yeah, but I don't think Buffy's on there

Woo! Formatting NAS RAID now!

FAE
11:44 PM
we've only had it since Sept

@Ktash I think I was just two years or so too young to "get" it. And my brothers didn't watch it, which drove a lot of my viewing habits.

FAE
@MBraedley we didn't get the WB

@Frank That reminds me, I should get one of those and do that
how big did you get?

@Ktash 3 TB.

Hmm, not bad. Wouldn't be quite enough for me though...

11:47 PM
Which in factory-speak means I only get just under 2.75TB.
@Ktash This is an add-on. :P I currently have 5TB of data or so lurching around my network.

@Frank My machine has 5.5tb in it (plus 3tb of dead drives :( ) but I want to use it as an automatic backup

@FAE it was simulcast here. Either Global (formerly known as MITV) or CTV (formerly known as ATV) carried it. Or possibly ASN, which doesn't really exist anymore.

@Ktash Get a centralized fileserver; makes it much easier to serve stuff and not impact gaming computer's processor.
Or a NAS.
Or both.

Yeah, I've been debating what I want to do. At this point, it might just be cheaper to get a small linux server and set it up as a backup system (with redundant drives)
But I don't know yet

user15026
@FAE I watched most of it, but I don't think I ever finished it.

11:50 PM
I have a Drobo, and I love it. Speaking of which, I need to set up port forwarding so I can download torrents while on vacation.

@Ktash It also has a couple USB ports, so I could (theoretically) plug my externals into it as well.
But I centralized my torrenting onto the same box as well, so it kinda works for me.

@Frank Nice! That's pretty cool
what brand NAS did you get?

It is Seagate, though.

ah, there you go lol

So it's nowhere near top-end.
2-bay, RAID 1, so if one drive dies, I don't lose my data.

11:51 PM
Meh, yeah. Most of my drives are seagate though, and they do ok

And I got it for pretty darn cheap from work; $65.

Yeah, that's what I need to do. Really bad. I've lost too much data at this point
@Frank Holy crap!

@Ktash It's also something like four years old.

Even still, that's dirt cheap

@Ktash It would cost me ~$320 or so to replicate brand new.
And that would come with warranties.

11:53 PM
Well, since I haven't started packing, I guess I'm leaving on Saturday. Leaving after 6 PM is less than ideal anyway.

Cheap NAS drives I've seen are still upwards of $500 for any decent amount of storage, so I'd say that's good

@Ktash A D-Link 2-bay is $100.
Two 3TB WD drives are $220; $110 each.

@Ktash you can get WD Red drives for only a 10% premium most of the time.

It's actually pretty cheap to start a small NAS setup.

... yeah, I keep forgetting bare drives come down in prices so fast
When I bought my 3tb, it was $180 or so
I'm gonna have to do that soon

11:56 PM
I think I'll be expanding with a proper Rosewill 5-bay setup, next time I'm strapped for space.
$800 for the box and 5 3TB WD Red drives.

It's getting to the point where I should swap out the 500GB and maybe the 1TB drives in my Drobo.

Which, granted, is still a good chunk of change. But that's 15 TB of potential space, all in a nice, hot-swappable package.

@Frank but not redundant?

@MBraedley Hence "potential"
Depending on raid configuration, it could give you at least a single drive redudancy, without much space lost.
