@Ender The reasoning has nothing to do with "we hate new users and ITG, so let's do everything we can to kill this question!". It's that we ended up with a question that has little to nothing to do with the original, edited into shape after it got an answer just so it would be allowed.

We require an artifact so we don't get cluttered with guessing game questions. This was a guessing game that just happened to get an easy answer.

After-the-fact editing just means we could reopen every other ITG because someone came up with an answer.

I think this is a case of minutiae overshadowing the overarching goal of the site. The guy got an answer. He didn't chose to edit it properly himself, meaning he was satisfied with his answer, hence he was not interested in seeking rep. Ender acted in good faith, whether correctly or not according to Hoyle. And, everyone should move on with their life allowing the great Darkspore scandal of 2014 to pass before someone loses an eye.

When I was young, my grandparents moved to a condominium in Florida where everyone was a retiree. I think that you had to be 60 or older to purchase given the bylaws. Yeah, they don't think it matters, and they just jump on you and chase you and just...no. Not happy. I like the idea of dogs, but I have very rarely met one that was trained well enough to not make me afraid
