Random system comes in that can efficiently automate Task A, but either through politicking or some other maneuver, random system is ignored so people who used to perform Task A inefficiently can keep their jobs.

Also, people have an inherent mistrust of machines and "machine error" even though a machine's margin of error is often much smaller than a human's margin of error.

@AshleyNunn I have some social anxiety. If I'm in a space with another person and I can't quickly identify a way out, I start to panic. No matter who that person is. I hesitate to call it a disorder, because I hate it when people self-diagnose themselves with any kind of disorder.

It was really bad when my sister was younger because she has a tendency to cling to me and lock doors.

@Yuki Well, talk to your regular doctor. He can try you out on a mild anti-depressant which often helps. (The SSRIs do a lot more than cure depression.)

Or, you can try @LessPop_MoreFizz 's favorite method of combatting social anxiety. Drink heavily.

Alcohol's most popular usage is as a social lubricant.

We tend to use Xanax (alprazolam) here in the States. But, Oxazepam is nice because you can give it to old people.
