The moderators have a menu to remove / refund the bounty, so this is no longer an issue. Flag such things for moderator attention as the moderators have all the tools necessary to deal with this now.

The problem is Windows 8.1 is beta software, so it could become useless after it's released

The bounty thing is a flaw in the system as far as I'm concerned. I just don't think they bother fixing it since it's such a rare situation.

@OrigamiRobot That suggestion is overly complicated, imo. Particularly now that close votes can be undone - if someone made a mistake, they can retract their vote and free it up for a bounty.

I do agree that it would be better to disallow bounties on questions with close votes so that mods don't need to be involved.

New feature-request, mentioning the recent change to close votes and asking to block bounties for a Q with close votes.

If Euro Truck Simulator wins this vote I'm afraid I'm going to buy it.

Since [close votes expires during the bounty's duration][1], the current solution is to f[lag the post and get a mod involved][2]. Why should mods need to be involved? We don't allow questions with bounties to receive close votes. It should go both ways.

For similar reasons, [someone suggested that bounties not be allowed on recently reopened questions.][3] The answer was that:

Once the jump drives are charged you can bravely run away.

Obviously you'll die a lot more easily without it, but you don't necessarily need it at all times.

Well, oxygen is always nice to have, but you can fix that when you have the time.

Blowing them up gives you lots of scrap and occasionally a couple fuel/missiles/drones. Letting them surrender gives you less scrap but more stuff.
