@Fluttershy He changed all instances of "great" into "hot". "Hot" pretty clearly refers almost exclusively to the super collider, whereas great just means a good question.
ultimately, to write the best questions possible, give it an intelligent and catchy title to attract people in, make sure the question contains all of the information you feel is pertinent and provide images with freehand circles where required
keep it all on topic and fill it with puns

just don't exact one line questions about a game that only you play to do so well
@Retrosaur I typically ask the questions as wordy as I need to to make them precise, while avoiding game-specific jargon (though not gaming-specific jargon) or at least explaining it when I use it so that the intent and scope of the question is understandable even for those people who don't know the game. On the second pass, I add in illustrations (for example, portraits of the character if the question is about the character or something typical for that character), general
Basically, what it comes down to is this: You asked a duplicate question, it got closed, you changed the intent of the question, and then asked why it got closed.
... optimisation for search engines and internalisation, and formatting (for example, adding headings or splitting off "introduction" from "main body" by horizontal lines).
@Retrosaur I honestly think your question is basically just asking how to get people to be interested in your writing, and is kind of pointless to ask here
@MadScientist There haven't been cases where you would vote as a user, but don't because you're a mod and you're not convinced the question is that bad?
In my mind, it takes a much worse question to unilaterally close than it would to close vote
@Retrosaur I could, but then it would miss the point of your question. It's not a way to write a question to appear on the "Great Questions" list. It's just a way I try to use to write my own questions so that they are accessible and useful.
One positive aspect of the lack of a non-mod vote is that it emphasizes that mod decisions are always binding and that mods should be sure about their decision before acting.
@badp Comments are expendable, "personally over the line" is enough justification to nuke an entire conversation
In any case, I think mods should get to use special "mod accounts" or have a "mod account mode" separate from the main account. Just like we tend to use special "mod voice" (typically red bold lettering) on forums to make sure others don't confuse our private opinions with our mod activity.
@Ullallulloo The line about the super whatever was. Yes. The line after it was not. The added line was what caused the change of intent when I read it.
@fbueckert: He probably rents a server, and it's a virtual machine. So he probably can't access the hardware information or doesn't know how to.
> We used to have a script running that would automatically load the proper map size, based on the number of players currently on-line. We thought it was the culprit, but disabling it didn’t help
@fbueckert That would be a reason for closing it as either "Not a Real Question" or "Not Constructive", but not off-topic (if that's what you are arguing for).
@Sconibulus Chat is a good spot for it, yes, but the fact we're redirecting somewhere other than the main site so we can solve the problem shows it's not a good fit for the main site.
@Wipqozn I think that "Take it to Chat, summarize the diagnosis and resolution to the best of your ability" is an explicitly ok stackexchange answer type
@Wipqozn What I'm saying is that they are perfectly doable. Ask for clarification, have it edited into the question, until the question contains all necessary data to answer it.
@fbueckert Doesn't mean it doesn't fit into the SE model.
Quite frankly, the fact that we have the abillity to assemble all the information without cluttering the solutions is a benefit of the SE model in that regard.
Don't get me wrong, I think technical support questions are very useful, and once we reach the end product and have all the information summarized it is a great place to store the information. That doesn't change the fact that the path to getting there isn't a good fit for the SE model.
It works way better than, say, a forum. And, as opposed to a chat, the result is persistent and ordered.
In all honesty, it works very well in the SE model, compared to a lot of other solutions. Without a dedicated system, that's really the best you'll get. And for that, it does a tremendously good job.
The solutions are all nicely sorted, separated from the problem. The problem can be assembled without flooding the solution section. And comments can be removed once they have been incorporated in the problem description.
Well, I still don't think they are a great fit, but I'm not going to start a crusade to have the banned. Like I said, I think they are useful, and SE is great for storing the end result. Just have problems with the road getting there.
I think we can all agree that the real problem here is that you're all talking about food, but I don't see any of it magically appearing in front of me.
Now I'll have to make the difficult decision of what to have for lunch. shakes fist
Sushi is one of those foods where you don't feel like you're getting full, then all of a sudden you're overstuffed and don't want to move until tomorrow.
So I received a special visitor today to my Happy Home Showcase.
I know that you can order items from people who have homes in your HHS for a higher price, but it's not stated in-game, in the instruction booklet, on Nookipedia, or on the Animal Crossing Wikia exactly how much higher that price...
@Wipqozn given that @StrixVaria has yet to respond. I'll step in as an emergency voter. And everyone knows emergency voters count double. Steak is delicious.

I need some of the goodies from the toad houses to investigate some secrets. But I just used up the Star (yellow) toad house. When will toad houses restock their goodies (for each of red, yellow and green)?
In Splinter Cell Conviction, you can earn some P.E.C. points by killing 50 enemies whom you've marked while using a mirror or a snake camera from behind a closed door. It is massively annoying to use the snake cam on every door in hopes of finding one or two enemies behind it. How can I get this ...
I need to find the webcodes associated with my son's skylanders. I connected the portal of power while on skylanders.com and activision.com but the skylander didn't appear like I had read about. Apparently I need very specific instructions.

I wish somebody could find the people saying "Is it a crime if the [underage prostitute] victim [of underage prostitution] doesn't consider herself a victim?" and throw them into an asylum.
