11:00 PM
I think he's watching the leaves blow around

ben, your window is too clean. Put stuff on it.

If any of you bought anything from JManga, you now have to pirate it to keep your legally purchased goods.

My cat loves window staring

He's running between each of the bay windows, then around the house and back to the window

600...

11:02 PM
@fbueckert Yeah screw DRM for things exactly like this

600 precisely it seems

@BenBrocka DRM does nothing but inconvenience paying customers.

At least on the windows partition

@fbueckert Hey, it screws up pirates...for a few days. Screws up paying customers forever

@fbueckert also increases development cost

11:03 PM
@badp Kinda impressed it's still working

At 4.2 seconds per miss that's 42 minutes of missing
:D
So that's the silver lining

Well there's nothing intrinsic to the moon that makes it gray is it? I doubt the sun emits perfectly white light

The sun is more "white" than anything else. I think it leans slightly toward green, but it's pretty much white in practical terms

...does it?

11:07 PM
2013, still no color photographs of the moon! ;)

After all 99.9% of light on the earth is from the sun and it's pretty neutral white for the most part

THE SUN IS YELLOW

... the sun is yellow!!!

@badp Dominated.

If the sun were yellow, everything outside on a sunny day would be yellow or black

11:09 PM
Nn people

So it seems that having spent 42 minutes finding unreadable sectors with chkdsk isn't actually going to do much in terms of preventing three computer from reading those sectors ever again

(or brown which is essentially a shade of yellow)
@badp Really? I thought that's what it does...unless you used the wrong options. Fix is one of the options...

We're looking at the world through sun coloured glasses our entire life maaaaaaan

There's some legal brilliance going on there.
Not buying them would've screwed Stephen Media SO badly.

11:11 PM
Aren't their copyrights worth less than the metaphorical paper they're written on?

@BenBrocka Read the article.

@Ben chkdsk has entered its second scanning phase and it's also taking forever and I can hear the characteristic tr-krrrrr-tr of unreadable sectors

Not buying them would've meant Stephen Media knew they were shit to begin with.

I'll simply put up a 42 minutes timer

@fbueckert Oh, didn't realize it was basically their own shell company

11:12 PM
@BenBrocka Yeah.
It makes me giggle.

I'm waiting for Prenda Law to die

@BenBrocka The courthouse in a week or so is going to be crazy.
The judge has ordered everyone from Prenda to show up, or else.
Including their CEO, Alan Cooper.

...it's very weird to describe someone's nose as purely decorative.

Maybe its owner has a cold so strong...
Elections in photography and travel.se

11:21 PM
Wow, PS3 only has 512MB of memory? No wonder the 8 GB is a huge deal for developers...
@MBraedley *retired (not that they'd willingly admit to firing him)

@BenBrocka Sorry, that was the text in the /. post

@Ben I'm telling you, when the ps4 and Xbox 360+1 start being development targets the requirements for PC games will be shooting through the roof
After all the ps4 is a glorified pc

@badp Eh, maybe. But memory-wise that's huuuuge for developers, expecting games to run on half a gig of memory is crazy. It's going to improve load times so much

@MBraedley the resignation letter is out. It's the standard "time to go our separate ways, new blood and all that" which strongly hints at "resign or you're fired" but they didn't outright can his ass
Firing him would probably be murder on their stock price

11:27 PM
@BenBrocka Ah yes, the ever present concern for the shareholders

@MBraedley Their stock's already taken a beating apparently, they're down to $20 from a high of $50 over the course of this CEO apparently

@badp I just read that

FUCK.
The computer shut off

Lappy is ded. Not big surprise.

Yeah, it's blue screening at boot

11:36 PM
Hmm, KSP, or FTB. Chat, you decide.

I guess chkdsk did complete then, or at least doing SOMETHING

Guess you don't have a desktop to slip it in either

safe mode blue screens too
Time to boot Ubuntu instead!
hi fsck

I think it's fsck'd

No shit Sherlock
I just want a file out of it

11:38 PM
If a small child were made of fire, instead of flesh-and-bone, how much would you think it would weigh? Purely theoretical question here.

This copy of Ubuntu so old it shows boot progress
Fire doesn't have a weight!

Plasma is generally too light to weigh by standard means
And if you just set a child on fire and throw 'em on a scale your measurements are all kinds of off, trust me on that one

You probably want to weigh the amount of air occupied by his body
After all that's what he is right? Air on fire.
This might not go too well in a space environment
Quick, ben, estimate your volume

Essentially, yes. There's technical particular matter that constitutes the material fuel but not in any fully substantial amount.
Yeah, "average volume of a 10 year old child" is a Google search string I didn't think I'd really use any time in my life.

What happened to the option of Stealth, Uncharted 3?

11:43 PM
Bad news, that's 85g Grace

...who measures volume in grams?

for samples aged 17-51
No, that's the weight of the air

The volume is 66.4 liters

Gotcha. Thanks~

Jin
@badp no wonder why it got infested by purple goo

Welp Ubuntu seems unaffected by the disk damage. Sorry @Ben your estimate was off

Alex Miller on March 18, 2013

Our guest this week is Eric Lippert – language architect extraordinaire and famous for all his work at Microsoft in developing their languages

Eric joined Microsoft right out of college and was originally working on VB

It’s time for everyone’s favorite game: Name the Worst Feature of that Microsoft Technology!

If you’re a non-programmer and still listening, make sure to email us for your free prize

Eric now builds “static analysis” programs which actually means something real when he’s talking about it …

Attempting to mount the windows disk however gives trouble immediately, who would've thought

Same physical disk? Seems odd the linux part would be unaffected

11:49 PM
Localised disk damage would explain it
Yes... Yes... YES...
SUCCESS
Windows 95 virtual machine recovery successful
Primary objective completed
Mission accomplished
Reward obtained
Goal reached
Success
Yes
Hm

@badp And the reward was... a Windows 95 virtual machine?

.
Yes! Setting one up is surpassingly difficult

But why?

To play Sim Ant, obviously
I was crushed to find Win 7 no longer runs 16 bit executable, which is apparently what Sim Ant and relatives were. I had to set up an XP VM for it. which is probably long gone by now
