FAE
5:00 PM
@fbueckert Yeah, hence the direct swaps. :)

user15026
@fbueckert Where are you transporting books to/from?

FAE
@JasonBerkan True enough.

@AshleyNunn If the library is underfunded, but they have some extra books they don't need, I'd be willing to transport them to a library that does want them.

FAE
@fbueckert Unsure if they could do that cuz of like liability and stuff.

steal em.

user15026
5:02 PM
@fbueckert You are welcome to try, but honestly, I doubt that a) you will find libraries with extra books (most of them go to archival storage places, either to be kept, sold, or destroyed, depending on the place. Like locally, they go to warehouses, kept for a certain time, then are sold to the public for cheap),

user15026
b) find libraries willing to accept books, and c) usually libraries are very well connected in their own cities/areas, and have that set up on their own., Either that, or the bigger library keeps the books and uses some sort of inter-library loan to share them.

now that I have apparently built some sort of mildly monsterrific machine, I guess I need to play something on it more demanding than civilization. I did get a coupon for crysis 3, and I've never played a crysis game... hmmm

Right everyone. it's my home time almost \o/ The weekend has landed.... all that exists now is 360, ps3, the wife, and cola....

@agent86 The Walking Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeead

user15026
@FAE Precisely. The likelihood of them allowing what to them, is a perfect stranger, to do that sort of thing, is very low.

user15026
5:04 PM
Libraries have a lot of rules they have to follow, if they want to keep being publicly funded.

user15026
....I may or may not have done a lot of research into these things.

@Fluttershy I had to stop playing after the beginning of episode 2. Too disturbing.

@Fluttershy it's on the list! already own it! gotta finish my civ5 guide and then I'm going to go off on a steam list adventure again.

@JasonBerkan That scene was pretty rough. But no spoilers! =P

spec ops: the line, prototype 2, walking dead, scribblenauts, and a bunch of other stuff in there mixed all up

5:05 PM
@Fluttershy They all die. No, wait, they all live

however..... I may return once I'm home. You guys are fun :D

Screw this, I'm making an executive decision to start my weekend now.

<and I now have an ocd craving for all the badges. ALL THE BADGES.>

@Fluttershy No spoilers indeed. It's not often you are pressing a controller button with one hand, while covering your mouth / eyes with your other.

@mmyers duuuude, now I'm depressed and/or elated

FAE
5:06 PM
@AshleyNunn Yeah, as well intentioned as it may be, if you're not an employee who has some sort of responsibility to them or would be able to receive consequences for stealing stuff, they probably wouldn't let Joe Shmoe do stuff.

@JasonBerkan hahaha wow, I might get ep2 on teh 360 then.... only one other game ever made me do that.

I'm like a Schrodinger's Box of emotions :/

@AshleyNunn Well, good to know!
Figured I could help them out, but I guess not.

user15026
@FAE Pretty much. Even the volunteering process in most libraries is pretty controlled.

@djsmiley2k However, I may be more emotional than most guys, so take my comments with a grain of salt.

user15026
5:06 PM
@fbueckert Yeah, its one of those things where it would be awesome, but it is impractical.

user15026
@fbueckert You could start something like this? littlefreelibrary.org

FAE
@AshleyNunn There's this little kid in Delft, he's been in the paper, who wants to grow up and have a bookstore. He sells books from his house.

user15026
@FAE He is my hero.

FAE
@AshleyNunn I feel so bad for him that he wants to get into a dying profession. :(

user15026
5:08 PM
@FAE Yeah, I can see how that is a little sad.

user15026
my favourite bookstore in the city closed down recently. I was a sad bean. There are still quite a few good ones in the city, but it just makes me a sad sad bean

FAE
@AshleyNunn It's so cute though, we walk by his place every week, he's got a little sign that says "Vincent's boekwinkel" or somesuch, it's so adorable.

@mmyers There's one on there that I actually know which movie they're referencing.

user15026
@FAE That is awesome and adorable. I would totally buy books there.

FAE
@AshleyNunn It's mostly children's books, but yeah, it's very cute. :)

user15026
5:10 PM
@FAE I have a love for kid's books. I own so many

FAE
@AshleyNunn I'll take a pic of the place next time I'm in town and send it to you.

@Fluttershy Quite a few of them are obviously about a particular movie. "He gets Lou Gehrig's disease." "She goes home, with her little dog too." And "Mr. Blandings builds his dream house." sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't quite place it...

user15026
@FAE That would be the awesomest.

FAE
@mmyers I like the LotR trilogy.

user15026
@FAE That's like I want to go here:bookriot.com/2013/01/28/the-worlds-smallest-bookstore - apparently a friend goes to a driving course thing not far from it, so he said next time he does, he will take me

5:12 PM
> The monsters are mutated humans.
The humans are mutated monsters.
heh

FAE
@AshleyNunn That's so neat!

@BenBrocka "She's a guy!""He's a girl!"

user15026
@FAE It delights me.

Hello people

Hrump. Can't sleep. Maybe I should try the hypnosis thing again

5:18 PM
Count every time you breath inn

@mmyers "There are snakes on the plane".

Oh god no, that would make me become aware of my breathing

There are planes on the snake

@Ashley obvious business opportunity. Hoard all the books. Wait for books to die. Wait ten more years or so. Sell books at a massive profit for junkies like yourself

user15026
@badp You might be on to something.

user15026
5:25 PM
Although if books die I will be a sad panda.

> Crazy cat lady found living in a fortress made of 46% of the world's remaining books

Invest money into printing more books

3D print books

which you will then read and sell at a normal price afterwards for not as wealthy book junkies
"Slightly used non original yet honest to God books ”
Sunoy HTGB.

user15026
@BenBrocka Hey, it would be an impressive fortress.

5:30 PM
@Ben Cats and books sounds risky

"This is my book fort, and I'm going to hide under it!"

but I wouldn't know

user15026
@YiJiang'sEvilClone Until you want a particular book that forms a key structural component.

@BenBrocka Before I finished reading this I had horrifying memories of Hoarders where the crazy cat ladies have lots of cat corpses. A fortress made out of 46% cat corpses did cross my mind.

@AshleyNunn Silly librarian. That's why you have duplicates.

5:34 PM
@Ashley use bibles for those

Fun fact: I will probably own three copies of most of the Wheel of Time books before too much longer.

or, better yet, phone books

user15026
@fbueckert This is a valid point. Although I don't think I own duplicates of anything.

no one cares for phone books. They're large, inexpensive, bulky

@AshleyNunn It will happen. I have replaced several of my most well loved books, due to wear and tear.

user15026
5:35 PM
That would work. Blasphemy holds the building together!

user15026
@badp And perfect for building blocks.

user15026
Since when has Steam kept conversation logs?

Damn you @fbueckert I spent nearly $60

@OrigamiRobot What else did you get!?
I just said get the Mistborn series.
That's $30.

FAE
@AshleyNunn Most recent update. Also they're not full logs, just recent histories.

5:36 PM
@fbueckert The Necronomicon

@AshleyNunn I imagine you just learn excellent techniques of keystone replacement.

user15026
@FAE Either way, it comes in handy :)

user15026
@GraceNote Either that, or I have to rebuild often.

FAE
@AshleyNunn I use Steam chatlogger, which actually keeps log files.

5:37 PM
@OrigamiRobot Oh. Well, in that case, make sure you know how to pronounce it properly.

This needs another reject before someone else approves it. <_<
@FAE When it doesn't crash unknowingly.

FAE
@Fluttershy Hasn't done that in ages, they put out a new update which works very well.

@Fluttershy Why?

@FAE Oh. Well in that case, yay!

It looks valid to me.

user15026
5:38 PM
@FAE I switch from mobile to computer and back again randomly, so it doesn't work as well for me.

@fbueckert Seriously, there's a Lovecraft collection called Necronomicon. I looked in it and it had 100% of my favorite stories. It looked kind of shabby so I rescued it.

@OrigamiRobot Welcome to bookstores.
And why I don't spend much time in them.

@StrixVaria I think he specifically wants to know if it can kill two enemies. Like, would the damage be reduced from hitting one to the point that it couldn't kill the second.

A lot of people say "Lovecraftian" but what does that even mean?

FAE
@AshleyNunn Ah gotcha.

5:38 PM
Because I WILL spend lots and lots of money as long as I'm there.

@Fluttershy The accepted answer doesn't mention anything like that.

@StrixVaria Cthuluish

@StrixVaria Cosmic unknowable kinds of stuff.

@StrixVaria Unspeakable horrors and mnrargable beings, basically.

@StrixVaria Of or relating to Lovecraft. :)

FAE
5:39 PM
@StrixVaria Relating to the mythos and the whole cosmic horror thing.
HERE, HAVE TONS OF REPLIES.

@StrixVaria The comment does.

@FAE IN ORDER OF DECREASING NAME LENGTH

Lovecraftian = "Yay, squid tentacle thingy that destroys reality and minds"

@GraceNote "mnrargable"?

FAE
@SaintWacko Haha, I didn't notice that.
@StrixVaria Grace word.

user15026
5:40 PM
@fbueckert This is always my doom,especially when I go to an indie bookshop. They will get all my money

Nyarlathotep is a name used for various characters in the works of H. P. Lovecraft and other writers. The character is commonly known in association with its role as a malign deity in the Cthulhu Mythos fictional universe, where it is known as the Crawling Chaos. First appearing in Lovecraft's 1920 prose poem of the same name, he was later mentioned in other works by Lovecraft and by other writers and in the tabletop roleplaying games making use of the Cthulhu Mythos. Later writers describe him as one of the Outer Gods. In the work of H. P. Lovecraft In his first appearance in "Nyarlath...

@StrixVaria I think I have a new favorite word

@FAE No, I'm pretty sure that is actually a word used in Lovecraft.

FAE
@SaintWacko I keep the chat open in a window that only takes up half my second monitor so most names are cut off after 5 characters for me.

5:41 PM
@AshleyNunn Yup. Which is why I'm usually in and out in 15 minutes.
And woe betide me if something catches my eye, and makes me spend more time looking around.

I am conflicted. I have never read anything written in that era that wasn't impossible to get through, but this does sound vaguely interesting.

user15026
@fbueckert Yeah, then it is delicious, delicious money spenidng book disaster

@StrixVaria OK, here's what you do.

@AshleyNunn Yup.
When I take my little sister, I go grab a couple books, and then she doesn't want to go.

@StrixVaria Say it outloud and based on how it sounds that confers exactly what it means.

5:43 PM
So, after about half an hour, I stomp up to her, and my buying books have doubled.
So I just look at her, and then we go.

@OrigamiRobot Is there more to come or is that the whole plan?

@GraceNote I almost did this, then remembered I'm at work

@SaintWacko Y'don't have to shout it. You can always subvocalize it in your head.

@StrixVaria Don't read the actual stories. They are very dense and some are impossible to get through. Listen to HP Podcraft. They go through each and every Lovecraft story in order of writing (that's not that important) and read select pieces.

@GraceNote Yeah, that's what I did once I remembered :P

user15026
5:46 PM
@fbueckert I know how that goes..

user15026

user15026
This is my favourite thing to come out of the Chelyabinsk meteor stuff.

@AshleyNunn She's well used to it by this point.
Hard to believe, she's graduating from high school this year.

FAE
@AshleyNunn Someone on my twitter feed tweeted that if this had happened 30 years ago during the Cold War, we might've had a bit of a problem.

@StrixVaria Here is the first episode If you want some recommendations of good ones, I'd start with The Dunwich Horror.

user15026
5:53 PM
@FAE Yeah, no kidding

Cthulhu is a lot more fun to play than to read.

@Sterno I've never played the board games.

Well, I meant the RPG. But those too.

FAE
Arkham Horror is an awesome board game too.

It's a great game at conventions. Meet up with complete strangers, half of which are probably playing deranged psychopaths, and all die horribly by the end

5:54 PM
@FAE how so?

FAE
@BenBrocka If it was a suspected missile attack or something from the US.

@FAE They really need a web-based version of it. So much setup with all the expansions!

FAE
@Sterno I can't imagine the nightmare of coding that.

@FAE Heh.

FAE
@Sterno We actually ran it on a forum game on our guild boards for a while. My guild leader had the board as a .psd file and moved people around for the turns and stuff. The problem was every time there was a Mythos phase, it took him like an hour to update the board by hand. It was too much work.

5:56 PM
Other really good ones are:
Dreams in the Witch House
Whisperer in Darkness
The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward
Herbert West: Reanimator
Through the Gates of the Silver Key
and of course The Call of Cthulhu

> The ultranationalist leader of Russia's Liberal Democrat party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, said that it was not a meteorite shower, but "a test of new American weapons," Interfax reported.
@FAE Don't worry there are stupid people today too

user15026
@BenBrocka Oh, that is going to go over so well.

FAE
@BenBrocka Oh lovely.

I don't think we have anything non-nuclear that would have as big a shockwave as the meteor seems to have

@FAE The mythos deck would be the hard part, but even then, most of those cards boil down to a few different event types

5:58 PM
(and we certainly wouldn't have 30 years ago) so it's pretty clearly crazy

@BenBrocka FAEs are pretty big.

But yeah... lot's of data input

(I think he's calling you fat)

Am not!

FAE
5:59 PM
@BenBrocka I have been called Fuel-Air Explosion-chan before. :P

@FAE What made it harder than doing it during a live game?

@FAE I see absolutely nothing wrong with this appellation.

FAE
@Sterno Just messing with all the layers and stuff and he also had made each of us inventories and everything.
@GraceNote Hehe, I figured you wouldn't.

@FAE ahhh

FAE
@Sterno So rather than everyone taking care of their own inventories and upkeep, he had to do it after he asked us what we wanted to do and where we wanted our stats moved and stuff.
So too much for one person, in the end.

6:01 PM
@FAE Okay, yeah. That would suck.
Every time I get blessed in that game, I lose it 2 turns later.

FAE
@Sterno Hahaha, yeeeeah

If anyone is interested, Witch Doctor is an amazing Lovecraftian comic where paranormal things are likened to diseases and parasites.

FAE
@Sterno Also, I forgot, someone has written a digital version of the game, I did some beta testing on it. Last I knew she was going to propose it to FFG, but I'm not sure where the project's gone, haven't checked on it in a while.

So a demon possession is the larval demon incubating in a human host.

FAE
@OrigamiRobot I read some previews of that in my Walking Dead comics, it looked kind of interesting.

6:04 PM
@FAE I wants! But yeah, I keep hearing rumors FFG is doing their own. But I think I've heard those rumors for 3 years now.

@FAE It is so good.

Just rename it Scream of Katchulhoo and don't reuse any art, and you're golden!

FAE
@OrigamiRobot I really liked the medical approach to the stuff, interesting juxtaposition. One of my other friends wasn't too impressed though, so I haven't picked it up yet.

@FAE Well they are stupid and you should listen to me. You will love Penny.

FAE
@Sterno It was rather buggy, but it did manage to support local multiplayer. We couldn't get it to work over the internet though.
@OrigamiRobot lol

6:06 PM
@FAE I'd settle for a program that just does deck management for you. In particular, they've got a bunch of scenarios and it would be really cool if you could just select "I want that scenario" and you'd have a bunch of digital decks all set up correctly for you

FAE
@Sterno Oh man that'd be amazing.
@OrigamiRobot Hahaha
@Sterno Did you know Elder Signs is on Steam Greenlight?
I've got it on Android.

I almost made it myself, but I couldn't think of a good way to translate inventory cards from a digital deck to something that then sits in front of the player. Without them just digging through the deck and pulling out the right card, anyway
@FAE I've got it on iPad
Actually not a big fan of that one.
Much harder on the iPad than the real board game, though, so that was good.

FAE
@Sterno It's a little too luck based for me to get into it as much as AH.

I can't remember why. Some minor rule change

FAE
6:08 PM
@Sterno Oh really? I don't have the game proper.

Maybe investigators can't assist each other in the digital one? I can't remember.

FAE
They can.

I think I have a bg.se question about it. Lemme look!

FAE
@Sterno You know what, I think I remember seeing that now.

5
A: What are the differences between Elder Sign and Elder Sign: Omens?

user1873There is a thread on BGG discussing the changes. They are far to numerous to mention all the changes, but some of the most notable are: There are no allies. Spells are cast after rolling, but don't carry over to other investigators. Only 1-4 investigators instead of 1-8 There are no midnight ev...

I think the big one was not being able to pick monster placement, now that I look.
In terms of making it harder

FAE
6:10 PM
@Sterno That makes sense, yeah.
I still don't really know when to use BCG.SE, honestly.

@FAE I know. I tried a few times, and honestly, BGG just beats the crap out of it

FAE
@Sterno Yeah, I want to support the site, but despite BGG's horrible 90's layout, it still has the bigger audience with more knowledge. :/ Plus so many actual designers there with accounts and such.

@Sterno I want to contribute too, but all I know is MtG and while I can answer all the questions, there are 5-6 people faster than me.
90% of my rep there comes from asking questions I already knew the answer too.

FAE
I don't play enough MtG nowadays to answer authoritatively on anything or even ask decent questions about it and it's by far the largest tag there.

Plus, when top users ask questions like this, it doesn't make me really want to contribute there.
It's not the worst question ever, but it's just... meh

6:17 PM
@FAE There is also a large group who are against using the comp rules in answers.
That makes zero sense to me.

FAE
@OrigamiRobot ...but... but why
It's an authoritative source

@FAE Because they are scary.
That might be true, but they are the one authoritative source.
Put the relevant comp rules in and explain them.

FAE
@Sterno I don't really get how that question fits on the site at all.
@OrigamiRobot Exactly. That's what people are good for, explaining the technical jargon that may not make complete sense to the layperson.

And honestly, learning to interpret the comp rules is only going to make you a better player.

@FAE I think it could maybe work for a specific game or something. But the whole thing just comes off as a rant and immediately shuts down possible solutions
Anyway, it made me think that probably isn't the community for me.
Unlike all you Arqade morons, who I love.

Q: Enough with the MtG Comp Rules

JSBձոգչEarly on, we decided that the Magic Comprehensive Rules were the preferred authority for rules questions about MtG. I have no complaint about this for questions which are complicated, where the asker appears to be familiar with the game, but I really thing that it's overkill for questions from be...

user15026
@Sterno Aww, yay, you love us

@Sterno If you love us so much why don't you marry us?

@OrigamiRobot Not allowed in most states.

This is the internet. Everything is allowed.

FAE
@OrigamiRobot Gonna pull a Strix here and just say that I think that is flat out stupid.
@Sterno Yeah, the non-game specific game part makes it seem just like a forum post, IMO.

6:25 PM
Hohum.

Humho.

I started playing Etrian Odyssey 3 again. It has it out for me.
I swear it treats the taunt skill, "Provoke", as a "No, let's make sure we attack anyone BUT that character" trigger.

How levelled is it?
Provoke is one of the main reasons I do well.

I think only to 2. But I'm also only about level 8

...yeah, you gotta wait a bit for the draw rate to be that good.
But if you're level 8, you should still be on the first floor.

6:37 PM
I go down to floor 2 at night. Can handle everything there except the FOEs and the... whatever the big beaked birds are
But during the day, those dudes wreck me

That's rather why you should stay on the first floor until level 15.
Or, more, that was my approach. But I ran from the same logic I did on EO2, which was trained by DEATH in EO1.

Your logic is sound. But I get bored when I run out of things to map.

I understand. Which is why I qualified it to be my approach. What is your party?
(I was a Hoplite, a Princess | Zodiac, Arbalest, Ninja, just for perspective)

Hoplite, Gladiator, Monk
Zodiac, Arbalist

I'm trying to recall if you can muscle through to the third floor and can hang around safely there for a few levels.

6:44 PM
I made it to the end of the 2nd strata the first time I played with the same party, but it got pretty rough right around then.

Obviously you shouldn't be tackling the FOEs, even if you're hanging around on the second floor, until you get to a much higher level.

I didn't really understand how gold drops worked the first time I played, so that's helping with cash a bit this time (and the main reason I'm on the 2nd floor right now)

Ahha
Yeah, it's much nicer in this game, they're a lot clearer on how to get the special drops.
Though you need to know to try it all.

Looking forward to IV (even though I have yet to play 1 & 2, or most of 3) :P

Same

Q: Do breach and\or fire chances roll per damage or per hit?

EnderIt seems to me that weapons that do more damage in a single hit, tend to proc their breach or fire chance more often. Is this observation false or true? How are Breach or Fire procs calculated?

@OrigamiRobot This is the stupidest thing I've seen on that site yet.
The comp rules are the source of correct answers.
If you ban using the singular source of correctness, you are beyond stupid.

Damnit, Chrom, stop dying.

Googl Chrom has ncountrd an unxpctd rror

The level of startup douchery is reaching singularity

Remember when people saw the OUYA controller and said: "damn! Putting a touch pad on the controller is a really good idea! We should do the same on our controllers!"
Me neither, but then this happened:
If this is the PlayStation 4 controller, Sony hasn’t learned a damned thing http://penny-arcade.com/report/editorial-article/if-this-is-the-playstation-4-controller-sony-hasnt-learned-a-damn-thing

@BenBrocka This reminds of me when @agent86 actually tried leaving Es out of everything.

@Fluttershy and faild :(

@Fluttershy Someone on Twitter keeps referring to the character from Fire Elmblem as "Googl Chrom"
@badp That's way too ugly
I hope they keep the same shape, maybe tweak the d-pad, maybe put a rear touchpad like the Vita. Screw anything else

@BenBrocka Instead the speculation is touchpad plus inbuilt Move

7:23 PM
@agent86 blam blam you dad

I'm sure you're happy

Hmm... No sound in Borderlands 2 after alt+tabbing... Better ask a question with the tag!

@Fluttershy it was good tims whil it lastd :P

@badp I kinda doubt that, it's not possible to use a controller in the same way

@agent86 Indeeds.

7:25 PM
@Fluttershy Fullscreen windowed
Always

@BenBrocka I go to change it to windowed mode and it doesn't do anything. <_<

@Fluttershy Well once the sound is screwed it's probably screwed for the whole session

Laaame.. I don't wanna start back at the beginning of this zone. =(

Did you change audio devices (usb headphones)? Because games don't like that and need a relaunch in many cases

As long as the core ps2/3 controller stays intact, I have no issues

user15026
7:35 PM
@Wipqozn I am finally mailing your package todaaaaaaaay

@BenBrocka Real men use real windowed mode

@AshleyNunn I thought you mailed that ages ago.

> Conclave players can now see which of their party members are currently online while they play and chat. Enjoy! 02/15/2013 15:31:19
No better way to remind @Wipqozn that he needs to vote

user15026
@Wipqozn So did I. But then it was unearthed in a box. So I suppose not. I am rectifying that.

eugh
what a nightmare trip

7:36 PM
@kalina next time be more careful with those mushrooms

hilarious
but I meant the trains

@badp Oh, yeah, I just got home from school.

all three trains had delays
which meant I missed the next train in the connecting journey

@kalina ugh, you commute over three trains?

yeah

7:37 PM
that's... not awesome.

@badp Real windowed mode is only cool if you're doing it to play multiple games on screen at once with the same mouse/keyboard

it contributes heavily to my dislike of working in London

I think I'd die taking one train daily.

@kalina are you counting metro as trains?

@badp no
if you include the London tube its 4

7:38 PM
that is retarded, yes.
@BenBrocka I window mode all the games. Mostly out of necessity

I'm glad we agree on something.
I window mode in all games as well
in fact, it's a point against the game if it doesn't support window mode
which is why I haven't tolerated playing mass effect again
I am far too scatterbrained to spend hours in the same thing
I have to be able to flutter between multiple things

@badp I know

...but I use the window borders too in order to be able to move them around
so that I can still e.g. peek at the browser while playing

multi-monitor setup ftw
computing without 2+ displays is not fun

Games that scroll the map when the mouse is on the edge of the screen, but don't lock the mouse to the window when you're in windowed mode, are the worst.
Like WarCraft 3.

7:44 PM
@StrixVaria I've played some games that do this, I can't remember which but yeah they're annoying as hell

I just upgraded my desktop, and I think I'm going to put the laptop I was using next to it, and do some synergy trickery to get them both to play well together

Synergy is good for that

one thing that always annoyed me was trying to alt-tab out to look at a website (or worse, use the steam overlay)

You kids and your ADD.

I used to do that when I had a work PC at home from my last job

7:45 PM
this way I get 2 independent PCs

the problem is
you need mouse control on the PC you play games on

audio might be an issue though

because otherwise you get weird mouse behaviour in games

@Sterno Loading screens are not very interesting!

yeah, when I've done this before I always had a mouse hooked into the game PC

7:46 PM
@badp You kids and your lack of SSD

for some reason they never quite worked the mouse input for games out properly

@Sterno Respawn timers are not very interesting!

Next game development challenge to solve: Respawn timer mini-game!

@badp Protip stop playing warz

@agent86 I don't know the words to correctly articulate it, but it's like the PC being controlled by synergy is saying "mouse has moved to position X, Y" whereas the game wants "I have moved 30 pixels left"
it's the same if you try and play Guild Wars 2 over RDP

7:47 PM
@Sterno Loading screen minigames are already patented

@kalina yeah, absolute vs relative mouse movements is I think what you're getting at

You kids and your contradicting everything I say!

@BenBrocka The implication is offensive, good sir.

@agent86 this

@kalina yeah, it's why pen/touch input doesn't work with FPSes

7:47 PM
@Sterno It is rather interesting!

@Sterno you kids and your pretending to be older than I am. OW MY SCIATICA

so like the mouse works perfectly in Office or a web browser
but doesn't for games
except EVE
which I find strange
EVE works fine over RDP

@agent86 I bet it's close!
Hold one while I MATH to figure out how old I am
34

@kalina I think most games track mouse movements by polling your mouse position and then resetting the mouse position

I always want Mangia to be a disease and not a food place

7:49 PM
but you probably knew that already.

@badp I figured the polling part

@Sterno ah, you beat me. I think I'm 32. I can never keep it straight. we should team up to keep the kids off our lawns

@Sterno you are 34?

I'm not surprised by Sterno's geezerness.

Crap. I knew I was the oldest here.

7:50 PM
@kalina I know. I seem way more mature, don't I?

@Sterno This is why I just write down how old I am

@Sterno I thought I took a long train, not turned up as an extra in Flight of the Navigator

Only have to update it once a year

ok so worst case scenario
my coffee cup has been up here for a week and I cba to go downstairs
I am not drinking coffee out of that...
