9:00 PM
@kalina He used to be goodp. Then @badp ... changed him.

@BenBrocka No, he used to be "Wipqozn the Awesome" when I needed him to be "Wipqozn the Handsome" for an epic chat moment that he totally destroyed :(
I really do hate him for that.

it's still snowing

Stupid sockpuppet.

apparently we're getting another 8" of snow over the weekend

@kalina Hooray for video games :P

9:02 PM
I'm meant to be going to Nottingham tomorrow -.-

We've gotten light snow after the first snowfall, which was of course a blizzard, on a workday

well we had snow last week
and it never really went away
it just melted and refroze into ice
so this snow is on top of a sheet of ice

@kalina That's the most dangerous thing you can have.

@GnomeSlice no, surely living at the foot of an active volcano is more dangerous

@kalina More dangerous combination of ice and snow, then.

9:07 PM
or say, being aboard a space station that has a meteor coming towards it

Alright, I get it.

Q: Does having more leagues enabled create more regens?

victoriahI'm confused because I've bought players from leagues that aren't enabled plenty of times, but it seems intuitively like more active teams = more players = more regens. Am I wrong?

@Lazers Should I assume this person means "Regions?"

@Powerlord No. It's the proper term.
> Regens or regenerated players are randomly created players in Football Manager that will start to appear in your save as time goes on. They are created to make sure there is no shortage of players when the real players retire throughout the years

9:51 PM
@BenBrocka Aren't BL1 DLCs supposed to scale with your level? Because the Moxxi's DLC starts at level 51 and... it's a problem

And I am home. Woo!
@GnomeSlice Conclave.

@badp Are you on playthrough 2?

aye

@agent86 I want to star that but, I'm out of stars.

9:55 PM
@Wipqozn curses!
don't you have a sockpuppet with more stars?

@agent86 No :(

@badp IIRC some stuff has set levels, that may just be it. I just waited to do the DLCs until I got to playthrough 2.5

@Wipqozn darn your straight and narrow approach to SE!

@BenBrocka eh. I don't feel like completing the BL1 playthrough 2 especially because I'm little ways from level 49

Maybe I should make a sock puppet, and ask mehish questions, but get more up votes since it's a low rep user and pity votes. THEN I'll merge it with my main account to get all the rep! MWUAHAHAHAHA!

9:56 PM
While T-Bone Junction is very much doable as level 48 though, what comes immediately after is murder.
@Wipqozn Pity votes is not what low rep users get :P

@badp From some users they do.
I give pity no votes.
That is to say sometimes I might not down vote if they are low-rep.
Sometimes.

Q: Botanicula- Sun Element Disc disappeared/did not register

ThanasiI found the room and acquired the sun disc, my last of the star, rain, sun and plant discs you need to talk to the pacman guy. I walked through the rope room and grabbed it, but now it's not showing in my inventory and I can't move on. Did this happen to anyone else? Game developers aware? I lite...

@Wipqozn Sounds more like it

@badp Is the story still over your level then?

@BenBrocka I think the story is at level ~40? Let me check
I've basically just turned on the travel network
That's how far I'm in PT2

10:07 PM
Huh. Honestly Gearbox never got the level scaling right for the DLCs. Either you did the DLC early and ended up overleveled for the main game or you wanted to do the DLC afterwards, and it was really only good post-playthrough 2
It's more or less the same in BL2
IMO they should have had an option or something to just always scale the game to your level, that would make the DLCs playable anytime

@BenBrocka I can't think of a single other game that does that either, so why would BL1 or 2?

@Powerlord plenty of RPGs scale with your level

@BenBrocka With DLC? With DLC that scales with your level?

I think in BL1 I played the DLC at the end of each playthrough, although I only had 2/4 of the DLC packs

@Powerlord Pretty sure Skyrim does this.
And Oblivion.

10:09 PM
didn't find it terribly difficult on either playthrough, except for crawermax, who we never beat.

@Powerlord The DLC already pseudo-scales to your level. And why wouldn't it?

Well, the robolution DLC did scale to my level

Also, Skyrim does exactly that, doesn't it?

Yep, missions are level 40-41

@badp I thought the final boss was way over your level?

10:11 PM
@BenBrocka I honestly don't remember what level he was. @Ullallulloo?

@agent86 Until playthrough 2.5 the game was never very hard (even then it was middling difficulty except Crawmerax, he was fun)

@BenBrocka well, I played split-screen, with my wife. she's not bad, but our skill levels are significantly different.

@StrixVaria Morrowind even did it, though they weren't DLCs at the time

@BenBrocka Well Tribunal and Blood Moon were pretty much DLCs.

@StrixVaria DLCs that came in gross physical boxes, yuck

10:14 PM

EB and I also did a playthrough, although he was pretty burned out by the end of playthrough 1. we have not yet aligned for BL2, although the wife and I play when we can (still in the teens)

@fbueckert @kalina ^

@agent86 Craw is tricky for sure, but Sirens can have an okay time against him. Being invulnerable while healing for ~30 seconds is extremely helpful in that fight

there is no way that picture is legit

Freaking stupid craw maggots

10:15 PM
@BenBrocka yeah, my siren was from my EB playthrough, and he didn't have the DLCs. I had the sniper guy w/the wife, she had the turret dude

@agent86 I always had one of various people playing Mordecai for couch co-op
Siren and Mordecai worked well, I always got in close and player 2 sniped. With Phaselock I could easily escape or make a run to heal my partner
(even though HE NEVER DIES)
We also briefly tried Brick and Roland, I wasn't a big fan of either, though a friend of mine has played commando/soldier both games

yeah, we just got owned hard in about 10 seconds after the fight started. chances are we needed to grind for better equipment or something.

The one part I don't miss from BL1? Scavenger hunts

Max level definitely helps, and I think craw is always level 50 or above. He requires some strategy but if you hide behind pillars and kill his minions it's not as bad as it seems at first
Scavenger hunts?
I just want my Double Anarchy back :(
best non-elemental SMG evah

he was our level (maxed out) +1 or +2 at least.
like 70 or 71 or so

10:25 PM
@BenBrocka I said, that's what I'm happy is not back

@agent86 oh, yeah, that's what he should be.Tricky parts are: minions (each had an elemental weakness, Fire Shock or Corrode), hitting his weakspots (he was weak to Shock), knockback, and the fact that one of his freaking weakspots is on his back
@badp what do you mean scavenger hunts? The Tannis "collect robot parts" thing?

No, like "revolver scavenger hunt"

Zombie Island had an even worse one, grinding for brains was boring as hell
@badp oh, there's at least one of those in BL2. Maybe just one, for killing scags
there were only two of those in BL1 though wasn't there?

There's one per weapon type

@BenBrocka with the wife, she needs something relatively easy and fun... if it gets overwhelming, she's frustrated and not having fun as much. with EB and co, we can do a bit more independent strategizing and so forth. I don't know what BL2 is going to bring, we move slow since having both of us free and no kids to worry about is relatively rare.

10:29 PM
@agent86 Borderlands 2 is pretty easy-going as long as you don't fight the raid bosses. If you do all the side missions you'll almost always be overleveled for the main story
Though things get a lot harder in the second playthrough

as long as the correct solution is moar bullitz we'll be fine

Have her try a Gunzerker or Mechro and that'll be no problem

she's got the turret guy again this time around. I'm a siren

It's rather fun to just shoot in the general direction of enemies and kill them with recoil with the Mechro

I'm mostly stacking support

10:31 PM
Bleh, aside from Res the support tree is mostly meh at best

with her going heavily into the turret trees

The one problem of the Gunzerker is stuff that moves fast and is hard to track

Though the shooting friendlies to heal is nice too

that is, choppers and the shielding support things

As long as someone has Phaselock the drones aren't too bad

10:32 PM
Those make your life miserable
I guess turrets also make short work of those

Yeah, the turret should

at least the drones

Deathtrap sure does

this is my current intended skill allocation for she and I - bl2db.com/skill-trees#zmfVo9MgAaxoxh
I'll probably roll a mechro for EB and co.

@agent86 Ugh! No elemental stuff?!

10:36 PM
@agent86 Both sierns?

@badp no, she's a turret guy thing

@agent86 Not pictured in the linked page

I just stop at Res and go all out into Cataclysm and a teeny bit of motion
Try Ruin; you'll like it, and you'll be able to keep Res and the bullet healing

@badp yeah, I was saying "this is my build for the game the two of us are playing"

oh

10:37 PM
I just said it poorly

yesterday, by Yi Jiang's Evil Clone
We'd have won purely based on the fact that our members can speak English good

@BenBrocka just most of the skills in that right tree I go "meh" over. Like, I still have 5-10 points to dump into that tree and I just hate the skills.

What level are you currently? This is a more fun build: bl2db.com/skill-trees#zmqz9ctVo9MEE0xo

@badp I speek english gooder than all y'all

@agent86 especially in playthrough 2 using elemental damage is critical

10:39 PM
Flicker, Reaper, Ruin and Foresight are awesome. Immolate is surprisingly helpful

you'll be wanting to have a shock and fire gun coupled with a corrosive and something-else (possibly slag) gun

You're right about most of the rest, but try those and I bet you'll like them

(if gunzerking)
so don't diss the elemental bonuses

Ruin is usually enough to crack open shields

@badp elemental bonuses? psh, your mom likes elemental bonuses. BURN!

10:40 PM
especially with Converge, though I don't think you can have ruin + converge + res

(non-elemental guns are underpowered against hulls)

Elemental guns are something you really have to try to appreciate how powerful they are. Especially for Sirens they can be devestating
And you can leave the DOT to finish off weakened targets so you keep flexible in combat

I'm real early still, and it's probably cheap to respec, so I'll give a bunch of things a try.

@StrixVaria Yeah, more or less.

is it relatively easy to twink in BL2? or do they penalize you to the point where it wouldn't be viable?

10:42 PM
In other words, you don't really feel how important elemental damage is until you get to PT2

@agent86 Respec is always pretty cheap. Whenever I hit a critical point in levels (being able to get the special 1 point top/mid tier skill) I usuaull try out all three trees for a bit

Most of PT1 is fun to do with Torgue shotties that one-shot asplode all the things

@agent86 What do you mean twink? Your high level gear is useless for low level characters

err, I guess I'm wanting to powerlevel.

user15026
For the record? Putting eardrops in your ears is a weird as hell sensation.

10:43 PM
ie, bring a level 1 alt into a splitscreen game with another high-level char and just grind them up to my level

I do not think I will ever understand the D3 auction house.

It's not as easy as it used to be. They nerfed the super-easy trick, but I'm not sure how effective it is any more

@agent86 If by that you mean lurk on the server with a bunch of level 50 guys and simply passively level up - that's a real slow thing

argh, bbl

@badp well the first 20 levels aren't too bad

10:44 PM
We killed five super-rare bosses with @SaintWacko
Got him from level 25 to level 27
That's... underwhelming

thought he got 3 levels

@BenBrocka maybe he did get to 28
still nowhere as good as "five bosses = three levels" makes it sound

I could test out the fleshstick power leveling trick if you're game

@BenBrocka I have at least a quarter hour. I think

It's probably not as good but it might still be better than just idling while people do stuff
I'm heading home now, it'll be at least 15 before I'm even home

10:46 PM
I'm surprised this hasn't garnered any more close votes. It seems pretty straightforward in that it's just asking for file links.

user15026
@fbueckert I did what I could.

@AshleyNunn As have I.

@BenBrocka What's this?

user15026
@BenBrocka Out of context this reads really weird

@AshleyNunn Well, you know what that means
Time to decontextify!

10:50 PM
I am amused at this user's name.

user15026
@fbueckert Okay, on the second ep of S4, and am warming up some to the new BuyMore

@AshleyNunn Now that it's no longer spy central?

user15026
@fbueckert Well, they apparently put Morgan in charge, which worries me a little XD

@badp I see the question, I see nothing by that user.

10:55 PM
@fbueckert I'm linking to the comment
oh right, you still don't have 10k
I'm surprised, really

aaaaaaaaaaaa

user15026
@badp Yeah.

@badp lol where is that?

@end yes

@badp Oh, that's the 10k
I'm working on it!
