@agent86 I don't have cobwebs or teleporting, and I want something better than stairs. I seem to recall something about jump up and down through wood. Is that possible?
@John you can build your shaft a few blocks wide, so that you have a "going down" side with no platforms for rapid decent, and then a "going up" side with platforms where you have to jump a ton.
@John build across the chasms, with dirt blocks or something
and dying's not that big a deal. you can explore a bit first underground for copper to make some armor/weapons, but I wouldn't fear death in this game so much.
underground it doesn't tend to matter much if it's day or night
@John I'd suggest going searching a bit to your left and right and find some shallow caves. Early on, if you can locate a boomerang and a few chests with some other interesting items, you'll be golden.
@Ullallulloo Piggy Banks are nice because they share the same "space" any where in the world. So if you have a spawn by the dungeon entrance and one at your main house you can put a piggy bank at each and access the same stuff.
I'm pretty disappointed with my horse. He wasn't cheap -- 1000g -- but he just doesn't seem that fast. To make things worse, he's a bit of a wolf magnet and every time I get attacked I have to tediously dismount, blast the wolf, and then remount.
Is the speed of a horse actually significantly ...

@RavenDreamer He's a boss in a flashpoint. His 'gimmick' is that there are 4 sections of the room, and they fill with fire, so you have to kite him to the section with no fire.

@John I don't know how to make those. Just imagine they are there ;)
The problem is that the fire is buggy and really hard to see coming, so what people were doing was sending a human sacrifice noble volunteer in to pull the boss and die. He would then run out of the room into the hallway, where he could be fought gimmick free as an easy tank and spank.
But halfway through, It was basically, "God, do we keep this up for another 15 minutes, or just wipe and hope our DPS doesn't all @#$*ing die this time?"
Has Blizzard mentioned anything about D3 beta achievements and rewards persisting into the retail release? Did they do that for the SC2 beta?
I'm digging it but with the prospect of losing my character progress (again -- it is a beta after all) and potentially achievements (again, again) my desi...
@RavenDreamer The problem, at it's root, was first the decision to do 10 man and 25 man and 10 hard and 25 hard, and then to compound that problem by creating ToC and severely inflating ilevels well beyond the original plan.
And Blizzard completely dropped the ball on that in Wrath because they implemented roughly 7 more 'levels' of gear over the course of the expansions lifetime than the level 80 conversion factors were designed to handle.
@Adanion Eh, that has to happen. It's the way MMO's work, and it happened to the people that carried Sulfuras into BC, and it happened to people with Warglaives going into Wrath.
@LessPop_MoreFizz Well, I did. Made it to level 40, twice. Then I let my account get frozen for two months, and then (while still frozen) I got banned.
And since I have no compelling reason to contest the ban (i.e., send a letter to california with the required proof of identity) I have no reason to continue.
@RavenDreamer Right, and i'm saying that, for me anyways, it's more about the amount of XP/Time required. Having a bigger or smaller level number doesn't matter.
@Fredy31 Not the French Emergency Shields! Our hull will be penetrated by thousands of Baguettes within mere minutes! Our Reactors will be flooded by an overwhelming sense of existential ennui and stop reacting! Our video comm systems will display nothing but Maurice Chevalier and Jerry Lewis.
When playing custom Garry's mod maps, I find it quite annoying to have 3/4 of the items being the big bright red error prop, meaning that I don't have that thing in any of my owned games.
I do own Portal 1 and 2, L4D 2 and TF2, so I'm guessing all that stuff comes from Half-Life, that I do not o...
I'm levelling an Operative, and I'd like to try my hand at a more Medicine centric build. My Concealment-specced practice of knifing people and then hitting Kolto Infusion isn't cutting it anymore in Flashpoints, and Kaliyo is turning into a sufficiently capable tank that I'm thinking it's probab...
@LessPop_MoreFizz I haven't gotten into it much either and I have been reading about balance problems at level 50 but threads are painful to read. It is very difficult to get anything usable out of the whining posts and the "Scrub L2P" posts.
3 Sorc's and a Jugg can basically control Huttball. For a WoW comparison, imagine 3 priests chaining life grips on a fully decked out prot warrior in WSG - except said priests also happen to be the highest damage class in the game and have a knockback to keep people off of them as well.
