@agent86 That was one of the most non-sequitur rants I've seen on the site. Obviously it didn't last for long.
So what are the chances that our recent jump in activity is going to lead to another round of moderator elections?

...wow

@bwarner IF the activity holds, like it has been, I wouldn't be surprised.

if so, how much is my vote worth? I'm totally taking bribes.

We do seem to be dropping back down, we're down around 70k views from the 100k of a couple weeks ago.

@bwarner We've been on a very steady and constant decline since the 16th
Yeah, our pace hasn't changed, so we should still be schooling everyone at least until after Christmas

11:06 PM
@GraceNote Oh well, guess no domain name for us yet.

@bwarner I dunno, our November traffic (for the entire month) beat Server Fault's November traffic.
There might be good things... atop... the horizon

We should make a big Terraria 1.1 push, that looks ripe for questions at the moment.
Except I don't think I can bring myself to put down Skyrim and switch back to Terraria right now.
@GraceNote Yah, but it doesn't look like we're going to be able to maintain that, even with the Christmas games bump.

@Grace Done now

@bwarner We'll still have a healthy bump, though. I think our average traffic levels will probably level off decently higher than our normal average.

@bwarner Even if we have an asymptotic gain of 20%, that'll be fucking awesome

11:09 PM
@FallenAngelEyes Aiite, after a song and a vid I'll be a-ready, if you don't mind too much wait

@GraceNote No problem!
Not sure who I want to play
I spent the afternoon practicing Evelynn in custom games to endeavor not to suck so badly on her
also been trying Leona a bunch this week

@badp Yah, no question of that. We were hovering around 20K before, and it seems possible that we could level out around 40K.

@GraceNote Yeah, and every spike like that which results in levelling off lower than the spike but higher than before is good. We just need to keep stringing those together.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say our next big wave will be Diablo 3 if we do it right.
On an unrelated note: I would like the Steam browser a whole lot more if it weren't in porn mode at all times. :/

If Mass Effect 3 is out before Diablo 3, I think we should try to get on that

Is URL autocomplete and a rudimentary history so much to ask?
Or hell, I'd settle for bookmarks.

11:16 PM
Interesting. Google for "Mass effect 3 release date" gives "Best guess for Mass Effect 3 Release Date is March 6, 2012

Mentioned on at least 4 websites including ign.com, wikipedia.org and 1up.com"
I would bet that does beat Diablo 3. Although it would be more amusing if they both released that day and we could have another competition.

@bwarner Guess? As far as I knew, that was official o_O
at least that's what has been in trailers

@FallenAngelEyes I just thought it was cool that Google figured that out without me having to visit a site at all.

ah gotcha

Okay, I'm available, @Fallen
@LessPop_MoreFizz It's definitely one of our big targets

Although I think our next big chance to really expand the site, and try drawing in users that aren't neccesarily already here is going to be the SC2 Zerg campaign. (and yes, I know SC2 is already one of the largest tags on the site. But it's a mere puddle in the internet when it comes to Starcraft.)

11:21 PM
When is that?

@GraceNote Don't think there's a firm date on it yet.

Mmkay

@Wipqozn @GnomeSlice When I said that, the starred list was filled without about 10 videos posted by @GnomeSlice over the course of about 2 minutes.

The original 'plan' was for 2011, but clearly it's fallen on the backburner what with Diablo 3 delays.

@John I don't see how that relates to me, I wasn't even in the room.

11:24 PM
Also, should really try to do something with Barcraft events IMO.

Herrow
@LessPop_MoreFizz ...do you use Steam browser to look at porn? O.o
5

Aeo
@RavenDreamer Well Herrow to you too

@RavenDreamer No.
@RavenDreamer By 'porn mode' I mean that the Steam browsers feature poverty renders it similar to a more advanced browser in 'incognito mode' or, more colloquially, 'porn mode' - no history, no caching, no bookmarks.

Right.

And I'm in.

11:40 PM
If this answer isn't updated within the next 24 hours, I think it should be deleted as spam:

A: Christmas Song in "The Polynomial" - steamworks

Alexeyyou can download mp3 from http://soundcloud.com/inwerp

@Wipqozn Why?

Q: SWTOR - List of servers?

Fredy31I'm in the process of finding a server for TOR to play on with my friends. We would like to pick a server before coming up on the server select screen for the first time. Is there a list somewhere? (with if it is PVP or PVE, How crowded they are, etc.) A screenshot of the server select screen ...

@ArdaXi HE doesn't give the name of the song, without that he is just promoting that site, which is spam.

@Wipqozn He doesn't make any money from offering it on Soundcloud.

I also do think hes ok. He's not plugging the site, just giving out a download link to the song.

11:46 PM
Wipqozn has spoken! All links must come with a revision history, a description of all other links on said site and a small biography of the author of the page.

@RonanForman damn straight

All hail the alot!

but yeah, I agree with @ArdaXi and @Fredy31 upon reflection.
It looked like spam to me when I first seen it...

Or the doctor, depending on where you are.

but when I think about it some more it does seem innocent

11:47 PM
@Wipqozn It's still incomplete, but not spam.
Unless of course the material is copyrighted and he isn't the owner.
But that's not up to us to investigate.

@ArdaXi Unless SOPA

Then it's just for us to go down.

@Raven OH GOD.

We have no chance to catch it.
We link to Wikipedia after all.

Wikipedia changed their plea persona gain

11:51 PM
@RavenDreamer Did they now?

It's changed from: YOU SHOULD GIVE US MONEY! to: WHY HAVEN'T YOU GIVEN US MONEY!

> We only raise what we need. When we've raised our budget, we stop fundraising for the year.
Why?

Keep fund-raising, then do less next year.

NPR does a "pre-fund raiser" fund raiser.

11:54 PM
Exactly.
I'd take anything I could get.

Or invest in better servers/staff/adverts

@Wipqozn Calling that link 'spam to promote soundcloud' is like calling an answer that contains only a youtube video (which happens to be the correct answer in some way) 'spam to promote youtube'.

@LessPop_MoreFizz No, it would be akin to a user linking to their youtube channel and saying "the video is in there somewhere"
If the video wasn't there, then they would just be promoting their channel.
Likewise, if the song isn't there, he is just promoting that channel/playlist.

@RavenDreamer yeah, but the NPR version is basically "We'll nag you a tiny amount for a month, and then if we haven't raised enough money by Pledge Drive Time, we'll nag you A WHOLE LOT until we've raised our goal."
And, quite frankly, I don't think that Wikipedia has any means to effectively nag people a tiny amount for donations.
