@kazzam and yeah, you're right about it being a shame that Aardvark left, he seemed like a cool guy and I feel as though he was misinterpreting a lot of our debate about game-rec as hostility towards each other.
Line from FAQ: Shopping recommendations are considered off-topic for the website. They are too specific, often localized, and are open to a lot of subjectivity.
That's a paraphrase, if not direct quote, from Super User's policy.
The other thing to add might be a link to the blog post.
Indirectly, it is the cause of the scale problem - because they can be so personal there are far too many permutations to make it reasonable to handle them.
It's more just fitting it in there that's slightly problematic. If I just make the hyperlink on the too localized part then it looks kind of out of place
maybe if I swap the placements of subjective and too localized
The issue is not as much in the question itself, because the question can always be transformed into a technically objective repository. The problem is that the nature of the inquiry invites subjectivity
I am going to buy an Nvidia 9800 GT 1GB and this is my first Graphics Card purchase. I searched 9800 Gt and found many different 9800 GT from different companies.
Is there any difference between Inno3D 9800 GT, Palit 9800 GT, Nvidia 9800 GT, EVGA 9800 GT?
Also will it fit on my DG35EC motherboa...
What makes it fine is that it is objective and asking for information that we can provide equally objectively.
@IvoFlipse Eh, the closing point of whether it fits for the user is not too useful but stat comparisons are otherwise not bad. It's not much different than a weapons comparison in Lethal Crisis.
Not in terms of readability, naturally, since you can always arrange the separate methods into separate lines. Rather, is it dangerous, for any reason, to chain an excessively large number of methods together? I use method chaining primarily to save space on declaring individual one-use variables...
The above question could equally be boiled down to a question of "How can I tell when performance is suffering", if we want to go the whole "teach a man to fish"
your absolutely right, we wouldn't do the same for comparing weapons in a specific game. But I feel that's because this site should revolve more about helping someone in gaming and less about the things around gaming
so we try to generalize hardware questions, while allowing in-game related questions to be more specific
I am looking to find out if there are Xbox Live (or Games for Windows Live) achievements for the PC version of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
Specifically, I'm interested in buying a copy of this game on Steam, but I can't find out if the achievements available for the XBox 360 version are a...

Am I correctly understand that it is possible to build both of them?
@Ivo I just ponder where the line should be drawn. People need to be taught to fish to feed themselves, but we don't teach fishing in the fish market. I'm not sure what divides the open sea from the goods we've already harvested.
When you die or load your game in Just Cause 2, you have to continue from the last autosave. But it's not quite clear what exactly causes the autosave to occur other than checkpoints and completing areas.
Does autosaving occur after you clear part of a town, or can that progress be lost if you ...
The line between on-topic and off-topic questions has always been on the soft side here. As time goes on, we seem to get further and further away from a concrete line or simple definition of what is on-topic. As a result, I feel like the quality of questions might be slipping. I think that by ...
After a very long time I wanted to install half-life 2 again, but when I tried to do so it gives me an error without a message. When I select the games I want to install (original version so only CSS / HL2), and push next the error pops up. I have tried to install it with and without CSS but both...
Whenever I try playing a game on my old SNES console, the graphics come out either scrambled or completely black, but the audio plays correctly, and the controls seem to work just fine. I initially thought the problem was a dirty connector on the game cartridge, but even though cleaning it did r...
yeah, GameDevStory kind of suffered from Roller Coaster Tycoon syndrome, where it was lots of fun as you were unlocking stuff, but grew pretty stale once you figured out the tricks.
I'm trying to add tags in a new tag set (or even in existing tag sets) but the browser keeps loading the add button forever. See screenshot:
I'm using Firefox 3.6.13 (Mac OS).
Just tested with Chrome 8.0.552.231 and Mobile Safari. I'm getting the same behavior.
When I click on Popular Tag Se...

Am I correctly understand that it is possible to build both of them?
Hrm, yes...the title analyzer thingadongdong should likely ignore the trailing number for the purposes of finding a reasonable match for the tag, or consider the - as an optional space..
I recently got gold in every Grand Prix race in Mario Kart Wii, and now there are various opening title sequences. Some of the alternate sequences are Mario saying something slightly different, and some feature different characters. What are all of the possible openings?
