Yes?
Umm... In the blogpost?
Um, yep. That was me :)
I'm like... A fashion trend starter :D
Thanks :)
If only Metas worked over HTTPS...
@Zizouz212 Maybe one day they'll get around to that. I think they're currently ~3 months later.
01:11
Nothing works through the SE App either... :(
Also, why do we have a [7-questions] tag?
And why are we asking for moderators, and designs, on the first darn day of beta?!?
sigh
At least there's a bounty on Meta for that .
Bounty?
What feature request?

Q: Accessing per-site metas gives 403 forbidden from cloudflare-nginx

Deer HunterClicking on https://meta.space.stackexchange.com/ doesn't connect me with the meta S.Ex.SE site. EDIT: For some entry points, no meta site can be reached. Observation courtesy Gilles. I consider it a pity that the devs have not paid attention to this issue nor have indicated that they noted the...

Oh... You confused me :)
Sorry; it's officially a bug.
01:17
I had a 'meta post' about one of my actions that was hanging around for 3 weeks. Just got to it today, from school :/
02:02
Hey all, glad to see this getting off the ground. I was hoping the Thingiverse groups would lead to more discussions but that hasn't seemed to happen. Nice to have a place to read some Q/A other than r/3DPrinting
lol, Welcome :)
@HDE226868 Maybe wanna start a Vote Early, Vote Often post?
@Zizouz212 No meta access at home b/c of https. Maybe I'll see if I can do one during my free periods at school tomorrow.
lol, just like me :)
Otherwise, yeah, I would continue my tradition.
So far 8 users with 10+ votes :)
02:08
Oh, and my top answer is on the gun question - the on hold gun question. :P
I feel like a case could be made to keep it here, because it's about regulation of 3D-printed products.
. . . Or are we axing legal questions already?
Oh god
But, it might actually just make sense
Well, that question's got a reopen vote from me now. You've made the case

@Zizouz212 Yeah, we need to have the Vote early Vote often post sooner than later.

And everybody, welcome to the site. Let's make it a success :)
Done!

Q: What does "review item not found" mean?

Dawny33In the recent 3D printing SE, I often get this in the review queues. So, what does this mean? Is the post removed, or something else? I don't think it would be post removal, as it is happening very often on both the close votes and reopen votes queues.

Q: Tag for taking orders and selling prints

Eric JohnsonWhat would be a good tag to use for doing business/making profit with a 3D printer?

Hi All!

I started up this proposal just under a year ago, and I am glad to finally see the day it has entered private beta. The site has been receiving a ton of attention even though we have been live for less then 24 hours.

It is the dedication of the community that makes these sites work! Lets all make sure we do our part to keep this site alive, and soon bring it to the publics eyes.

Cheers

@MattClark Great!

Private Beta is the phase where the site takes it's shape, so yeah, let's do it :)
Yes, let's do this!
:D
(I don't know anything about 3d printing though... But who cares :) )
Anyways, I'm heading out.
@Zizouz212 might remember. We had a lot of nice and exciting discussions while framing the scope of HardwareRecs in the private beta, and thanks to that, it's going nice and strong now :)
17:26
I've got Law :)
The ask the questions to learn!
I built a printer last year ( when I started the proposal ), but have not done a whole ton since.

I might actually have to rebuild it tonight to get it working again so I can come up with some questions!
@Dawny33 Yep, I rememer :)
@MattClark lol, but I've never even seen a 3d printer before :P
INSANE :P
17:27
Anyways, now I really need to go to Law :)
I'll be late!
See ya!
Later!
Btw, whoever voted it duplicate, pl review your vote. I've explained it in the comments under the post :)
@Dawny33 ugh, I keep trying to go to the mod timeline and figure out who it was

Q: What should be the name of our chatroom?

S.L. BarthI believe this question is asked on every private Beta... what should be the name of our chatroom?

20:40
The 3D-printed firearm question has two close votes again.
Suggestion: Someone flags the question and asks Robert Cartaino to lock it until the meta discussion comes to some sort of a conclusion.
Now we seem to be getting some support on meta for legal questions . . . but it's not clear whether or not this one is one of the good ones.
Thoughts?
Hm, difficult. The subject is controversial.
I for one would like the site to focus on the technical aspects of 3D printing, not the legal ones.
Same here. I'd like the questions to be allowed, not necessarily emphasized.
@MattClark It's an awesome proposal; I hope it does well.
@HDE226868 I second that.

Q: Should the "quality" tag be disambiguated?

S.L. BarthWhen asking my first question, I noticed we have a "quality" tag. I used it to ask about the quality of the 3D printer in my question, but most other uses are about the quality of the prints. Should we have separate tags, e.g. "printer-quality" and "print-quality"?

21:29
I'm back!
@HDE226868 That. We don't need to be a site about all legal stuff, but we should allow it.
Is anyone here good with laser cutters?
Laser cutters?
Yeah, laser cutters. Big machines that cut stuff with lasers.
I have experience, would not call myself a pro. ( The original proposal was 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping ) which would have covered this. Whats up?
@HDE226868 Ummm... Sounds scary
@MattClark Maybe a good question to test? Or something on meta?
Speaking of meta... Do we have something against recommendations yet?
21:40
@MattClark A while back, I was cutting a gear about two inches wide, but the cutter singed off the tips of the gears, making them rounded - which wasn't an issue, as they worked better, but was still a bit annoying. I'm thinking of going for another run, but I'm not sure how to avoid it again, besides maybe sizing the teeth a bit bigger to compensate. Not the ideal solution.
@Zizouz212 We only nearly burned down the school one time (true story - always turn on the fan for the cutter).
I won't say anything.
I'm going to throw up a recommendation. Let's hope someone catches it :)
Someone smelled something strange, so we pounded the off switch and figured out the issue. The flames hadn't grown too big.
I've always wondered what would happen if a school burnt down...

Q: What printer do you have/use?

the third dimensionI know that open ended survey questions are not well suited for a Q&A site. But this is meta! It can't hurt to know what printers are used by the users to better identify the scope of the community. If there already exists an answer for your printer: upvote that answer. If the printer is not al...

@HDE226868, sorry, was finishing up a few things at work.
How do you mean `singed off the tips`? Like, burnt / melted the material?
Can you provide a picture of what happened? Sounds like the output power was just too high
@MattClark I don't have the piece with me, nor the files I documented it with. The major issue might have been that I used wood, so power could have been an issue.
The top 1/4 of the tooth tips were completely gone.
There was also a lot of side blackening. The strange thing is that it didn't happen quite so badly on some other pieces I and others made, of different (generally larger) sizes.
