I'd prefer it if we were all roughly equal as far as the plot is concerned, which would naturally arise if the story is us as a group confronting some external challenge.
A Murder has happened, one of many, a serial killer is on the loose. It is now up to Detective Radish and his crew, using their immense tact, competency and skill (not) to hunt down the shadowy clocked murder.
And then the plot twist is that the cow, who is sitting out side eating trees (and quitely messing up the investigations) was the master mind behind the entire thing.

I'm not sure that world design need be overwhelmingly relevant for such a short animation. The "world" is pretty much constrained to whatever specific place(s) that the plot takes place.
