What might be interesting for potential candidates (especially first-timers like me) is "current workload": At the moment, we have 3 mods. Will it stay this number for now? How do current mods (I see @Undo here) feel about the workload, how much "time does it eat per day" (average/felt)?

@Izzy Fairly low
Think single-digit numbers of flags per day

Oh – and first thanks for the welcome, @GraceNote :)

A single person could probably handle all the flags with < 15 minutes per day. Of course, we have three people, ideally distributed around timezones.
So it's really low.
If you can show up every day, you'll do fine.

Thanks, @Undo. Most of my other questions I've already asked in the past. Up to now I've always refused to take the diamond (I was asked a few times). Guess this time I'll volunteer.

Awesome.

7:46 PM
Ah: time zones. Gilles and me are probably in the same TZ. Where are "our two doggies" located?
(Guess I've asked that before and forgot =:-0)
@Undo Yeah :) The only "big issue" I see is "Thor's hammer". Curently it's team-work. With a diamond, if I hit "close" it's immediate. So I'll do that less. But when I need to, it will have it's advantages, too :)

@Izzy I'm in NW USA.
The hammer takes a while to get used to, but it's not all that bad.

@Undo That makes a diff of 8-9h, good. So it's always someone there. You know I'm always present in chat anyhow – and that's something I really like about SR, there's always a mod there.
@Undo Yepp. I see the good side for (or rather against) the really bad things (spam, violant OT) :)
OK, thanks so far! I'll stay here watching, but will be AFK for a while :) Guess the Meta-Post for nomination will pop up in our main chat when it's ready :)

Go Izzy :D

@Izzy the first few weeks of the site were very busy but now 3 mods is plenty

8:06 PM
aaaand nominations are open!

still no nomination, slackers!

That includes you Gilles ;p

@Seth I'm not planning to run

@Gilles why not? :(

@Seth He expects me to substitute for our time zone :)

8:14 PM
@Seth Software recommendations isn't a subject I care about that much. I got interested because I was convinced the site could work as long as it was properly moderated as opposed to being SO/SU's toilet bowl. I became a mod because this site needed a moderator with some experience of recommendation questions. Now there are plenty of people who have gathered experience here and can pick it up.

Good reasons.
Now that I think about it, those are the same reasons I became inactive here myself.

@Gilles There you go :)
And true, I guess I'm one of those having "gathered experience here and can pick it up". Time for me to face it. This is a very good site to start – a great team, and it's not so big as to arise "fears" :)

8:49 PM
@Izzy Definitely.

9:37 PM
Already at 3 candidates.

10:21 PM
I almost forgot to bug @unor to stand.
He'd make a great moderator IMO

1 hour later…
Tom
11:47 PM
Good luck @Izzy, @Undo, & @ᔕᖺᘎᕊ :)

@Tom Thanks!

@Tom Thanks :)

@Undo Full ack. Also, that would make the election an election (instead of a "confirmation of nominees" :)

@Izzy We've already got 4 (Tom threw his hat in)
But I'd still definitely like to see unor nominate.

@Undo Oh – I need another reload then, thanks for the pointer!
Other than the main site, there doesn't seem to be that "there's a new answer" Ajax stuff.

11:58 PM
No, the election page is 100% broken in that regard
Even new comments don't trigger the AJAX thing
