@Mithoron Yeah. But I thought there was a decent question inside there, and it wasn't too much effort, so...
But they seem to have been encouraged by it... or think that they can get away with it

@Mithoron Heh heh heh
Took me 2 years but finally got a chem tutor with a phd for my homework questions

@orthocresol It even became HNQ.
So the user got enough reputation to avoid a question ban for all the other questions.
I wonder if I should suggest a rule that makes it more difficult for first questions to become HNQ.

A: What is the priority for numbering alkyl side chains?

user73619It is according to lowest sum rule of substituents...and hence 3+3+5=11 whereas 3+5+5=13

This is of course the usual wrong answer.
But in most cases, this answer would be more helpful than the accepted one, which talks about group priorities, which sounds quite misleading.

@Loong Exactly! T_T I mean, I hope the question ban will kick in eventually.
That chart on masterorganicchemistry.com doesn't help with "priorities" I suppose...

11:13 AM
Yes, that chart alone is responsible for many problems.
@orthocresol It doesn't stop: chemistry.stackexchange.com/q/108271/7951

Oh dear... at least it's not in caps...
Oh, thanks for doing that

@Loong: Sir, it may take some time before i learn the ways things have to be here; so you and other senior experts kindly excuse my wrong or substandard inputs,please. I would like to know the names provided by Chemsketch, for a structure drawn by the user always dependable?

4:15 PM
No nomenclature software is perfect. They all have some limitations. Nevertheless, a current version of ACD/ChemSketch usually gives the best results.

Surya TejIs there a name for the element Tony Stark rediscovered during Iron Man 2.? And is it being actively and currently used to power all his suits including the latest nano tech bleeding edge armor mark 50?
