hello to all, a quick question. It was my idea that generally homework question are "discouraged" (they can be accepted if they bring an interesting discussion on chemical concepts as far as I understood) but lately I've seen a lot of them. What's the "general" policy for them? As an example chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/108294/…

also what is the policy about answering downvoted questions (for downvoted I mean -1, of course if it has a -3 probably it is not of interest)

@Jojostack Homework questions aren't discouraged. No effort homework questions are.

Answering no effort homework questions is discouraged as it encourages the asked to ask more low effort questions.

There is no barrier against answering homework questions.

I've seen questions with -3/-5 with answers having 8 or more upvotes.
