Tris, or tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, or known during medical use as tromethamine or THAM, is an organic compound with the formula (HOCH2)3CNH2. It is extensively used in biochemistry and molecular biology as a component of buffer solutions such as in TAE and TBE buffers, especially for solutions of nucleic acids. It contains a primary amine and thus undergoes the reactions associated with typical amines, e.g. condensations with aldehydes. In medicine, tromethamine is occasionally used as a drug, given in intensive care for its properties as a buffer for the treatment of severe metabolic acidosis...
What does tris-OH look like?
It already has three OH groups
@CowperKettle you sure it shouldn't be TsOH?
It does have space for more though
@M.A.R. My Russian sentence says: "Viral inactivation was performed by incubating the solution at pH 3.5 for 30 minutes and neutralizing it to pH=7.5 by adding 1M Tris-OH."
I started googling and started wondering.
But the text should be submitted by Monday, so I better stop wondering and start translating as-is.
For the last 3 days, it has been actual summer in Yekaterinburg.
Well, I've never encountered it, but it's a possible name
I'd say just go with it
nods
My friends will go parachute jumping on Saturday, and I was unsure I'd have time, so I refused. Need to translate this..

@CowperKettle this might be worth asking in bio chat
Tris + its conjugate acid is a commonly used buffer, but I've never seen "Tris-OH".
@orthocresol what does either of the images contain? They're blocked for me
But it might be a mis-upload anyway, if it looks funny.
@M.A.R. Isn't it possible to use some VPN or proxy?
@CowperKettle not on this crappy mobile browser

In November, a new wave of prohibitory legislation kicks in in Russia. It will be forbidden to use proxies and VPNs. And all internet messengers will have to contain built-in features for automatically deleting messages containing "unwelcome" information.
Thus probably some messengers will stop functioning.
I haven't read Russian news for 3 days to get some peace of mind. Maybe I should just read it in portions once weekly. For an hour.
@CowperKettle wow
I saw that. :S
@Zhe I really can't tell if it's a troll.
Okay...

Q: How does a molecule search work by drawing in visual editor?

NiepodamThere are a lot of chemical search engines (such as ChemSpider's Structure search) that allow users to draw and search for a molecule. How does it work? Is the comparison of images used? Could you give me an algorithm or pseudo code?

everytime I post something, I get a downvote, wth
"Is there a proton leak during ATP synthesis?" --- downvote
"Vinegar reacting with metal pan?" --- downvote
"How does a molecule search work by drawing..." --- downvote

I just keep getting them, even on old stuff. I'm just wondering if like there's someone who is serial downvoting me.
No, there isn't.
I just checked.
