I sometimes see a clear, well-framed question with one tiny but glaring error, for example "have" instead of "had" or "loosen" instead of "looser". It's a good question, but a good answer is going to have to compete with a lot of nit picking. I can't just fix the error because of the minimum five...
@IͶΔ Bad questions ? uh ? what are you talking about ? :P seriously though, it's true that since last year I see way more badly formatted/lacking motivation questions
:( I'm on the group of those who see lots of midly interesting questions and are ashamed they can't answer them, but can't improve either because no one answers them :(
@ron I'd need lots of rep. There are many such questions every day. They might not be very interesting to users quite knowledgeable like you, but they are to me.
And unlike on MathSE, I can't really farm any reputation here; I'm not good enough yet. And I'd hate to give false answers.
@Wesley if I might offer some advice... If this stuff - the questions, the community - if it starts to get to you that way, take a break. This should be fun; something you do for the love of the topic, of the profession, in hope of building resources that are better than the ones you had to learn from. If it isn't fun any more, stop doing it.
I have traveled to France many times. Paris is one of the great cities of the world. For a while I once lived in western Germany, we would cross the border to France to eat good food.
@IͶΔ It is still fun to answer a question. It is just that there aren't as many "good" questions as there used to be. Back then everyday had multiple exciting questions. So I have turned some of my attention to site maintenance. Just not like the "old" days, but again, change is a natural part of the process. Maybe it will change back. I remember when @Martin-マーチン would post a lot too. His posts always make for good reading (and learning).
@Hippalectryon OK, I'm off to see what I can find on Mozingo!
When a site's famous, many experts visit and post. When a site's not famous, there are experts who devote themselves to run it, so experts visit and post. Chem is in the middle. It's not that famous. If you give it some time @ron, this site will get more eminent and good posts will start popping up again, but this time among a sea of bad ones.
Make yourself ready for then, so you won't lose the expert posts.
