Q: Why is Ne2 better than Nf3?

Shreyash TalpadeI played Nf3 for attacking on king side which is about to castle having some plans to make a battery in future after castling but I feel Ne2 is making a block for Re1 at some point. Any suggestions? [fen "rnbqk2r/pp3ppp/2p3n1/3pP3/3P4/2PB4/P4PPP/R1BQK1NR w KQkq - 0 1"]

Q: What is wrong about my answer?

Adam Knirsch I have a question about my Chemistry Stack Exchange post: When we name an organic compound ,if there is double bond and a functional group which is now a substituent who has priority? I do not understand, why my answer has been downvoted and afterwards deleted. Is there any mistake in the an...

Q: Why was this question closed for insufficent details/clarity?

theoristWhy was this question closed for lack of details/clarity? How does ph depend upon temperature I had no problem understanding the original question, but it was poorly written, so it recieved downvotes. I thus edited to it to make it clear. Even after this, it continued to recieve downvotes, ...

Hello.
@Mithoron Hello.

11:00 PM
Hey
Welcome to our humble hut @M.F

@M.A.R. I invited him and still no coordination :(

@Mithoron Maybe they're sleeping like a healthy person should at 3 a.m.
Night

@M.A.R. Is just after 1 here :D
@Mithoron, no idea how the chat works and the format is way too complicated. — M. Farooq 3 mins ago
He's not!
@M.Farooq There, there ain't so difficult

Chat can be intimidating at first

@Mithoron Hello @Mithoron. I am trying again!

11:13 PM
Like who are all these gentlemen with 9 PhDs in chemistry and 3 in the hardest science field things
But I'm secretly a dolt
@M.Farooq you can play around with things and get used to chat more. We certainly don't want to entrap you here for eternity.

@M.Farooq tsk, tsk less edits then answers, you just need practice with that

P.S. it's not glassware or expensive so it's safe to play around with

Sure.
@Mithoron What were you saying?

"format is way too complicated."
You can check out some meta posts

Q: Formatting Sandbox II: please test stuff here

Martin - マーチン Spoiler warning: Be aware that this page contains a lot of MathJax, so it will probably need quite a while to load completely. User of the old sandbox will have noticed that with the amount of answers gathered there, it is very hard on your computer to get past the posts to the answer field....

@Mithoron What I don't understand is this chat has a heading of "The Periodic Table" and plenty of other comments. Hard to follow what is going on in this chat room :-)

11:19 PM
@M.Farooq Those don't matter much. The messages matter mostly
On the bottom right are the starred messages

Well, it's just a name of charoom

@Mithoron You were saying something on down voting, I guess.

About editing right now

In my opinion, editing should be done by OP. They better learn how to ask questions properly!

Thing is if asker didn't do it right chances he'll manage are low
Sometimes after lots of prodding it's gonna work out, but it's rare.
Also most of askers leave just one or two posts and they're off to realms unknown

11:25 PM
Yes, as one can guess most of these posters are Indian high school students cramming for university entrance exams. Editing the question is perhaps their last priority.

As far as down/close votes are concerned poor wording, formatting, clarity killed many potentially useful posts

True, but it is a pattern in chem. It is excessive.

What is exactely?

Almost every other Q has -1. Just have a survey. There are some people, who seem to have a obsessive compulsive disorder for down voting, who even down voted my answer on topics as simple as "titration". One can only laugh at these people.
I don't care about down voting, but it does have its own nuisance value, like a pest :-)

You do realise you're talking to a guy with highest number of downvotes on the site? :D
But about half of the questions I downvoted are deleted now
And rarely downvote answers
@M.Farooq Thing is most of the questions are either homework and often very bad at that, or unlear/too broad/ opinion based etc.
What worries me are for example cases when answerer simply does not answer the question. Either because of misunderstanding or just 'cause they happen to write about something specific
But surly surplus of bad questions is main problem and unsolvable one. seems constant cleaning is only way...
@M.Farooq yawn Goodnight!

11:53 PM
@M.Farooq Everyone gets downvotes everywhere
Except maybe TeX
