@Hotnitricacid(HNQ) I guess you didn't notice that I posted that question earlier than you by 8 hours. Anyway thanks! From next time onwards, I'll leave it to you to post my question here :P

@GuruVishnu Questions enter the HNQ after 8 hours with the current formula

@M.A.R. I'm honoured by your reply. I think I read that on the main meta a long time ago. Now I remember nothing about it. Just know it gives a good reputation boost :-)

I'm honored you're honored
Honor all the way

Q: m-CPBA Selectivity between Baeyer Villiger Oxidation and Epoxidation?

sweetandtangyIf both a ketone and an alkene are present in a molecule and you add one equivalent of m-CPBA, what are the factors that determine which group will be oxidized, the ketone through Baeyer-Villiger oxidation or the alkene through concerted epoxidation? Is one of the reactions particularly faster an...

Q: Reviewers changing the original question

ChemistEven I had this question in my mind., while searching I found out that someone has already asked, it has got 11k views but no proper answer yet, so I decided to improve the question and add my points as Bounty, But someone just edited the question in such a way that it changes the meaning of qu...

@1,3-feeds What's happening there. I'm too distracted to check thoroughly

@M.A.R. Meh, not important.
@GuruVishnu Umm, thing is you need to be careful for "standard" comments to be OK - if comment is used a lot of times, there's no excuse if something isn't OK with it, and this one isn't good.

@Mithoron That was from a mod's post. I just copied them to auto review comments. If it's not good, can you please tell what to improve in that? At least, I can make a local change. And indeed I use it a lot of times.
But in this case it suited really well. This question was quite funny HW: physics.stackexchange.com/q/554951/238167

2:45 PM
Yeah, get that a HW-comment was needed, but for a mod with huge rep this guy used rather poor wording
While I can't say I like HW, comments needs to say only about policy, closing of questions etc. Physics didn't ban HW didn't they? So comment needs to say what is exact consensus no what some think

Conceptual HWs with sufficient research are allowed. Apart from that those simply asking for calculations, answers without any effort are closed.
Other than that, for borderline cases, I wouldn't actually VTC. I'll ignore it.

Well, so policy is similar to that on Chem.SE

Yes of course. But I find, asking HW questions here is comparatively easier :-)

And comment shouldn't say which questions are preferred, just that without compliance to policy, they're gonna be closed
@GuruVishnu Huh? Why easier?

@Mithoron Hm. Yes. They're anyway going to be on the close banner. Sounds reasonable.
@Mithoron It's not only necessary to show efforts in approaching the question, but it must be a conceptual one. Asking for "where did I go wrong" is off-topic there.
For eg, the effective resistance in series is 8+2=10; if one comes and says I get 8+2=11 but my book says it's 10; then we'd close it.
I'll join you afterwards, need to have my dinner. Bye.

@GuruVishnu I'm multitasking with dinner ;)

Q: Comment Templates

M.A.R.Guidance is pretty important, and I'm going to write a meta post in some other meta about it soon. Long story short, if it weren't about guiding users, I wouldn't be writing this and you wouldn't be reading it. There are some things that are happening often enough in the main site, such as welco...

@Mithoron Cool! Do you have your dinner at 5 p.m.?
Technically shouldn't that be a lunch?

Huh? isn't lunch earlier then dinner?

Yes. Then what would you have around 8 p.m.?

supper?

Maybe some regional variations. So breakfast (here) = lunch (there)?

3:14 PM
We don't have much of a lunch concept in Poland

I see. I never knew that :P
@Mithoron Thanks! It's already on my bookmarks though I don't know which one to store; there are multiple sources to copy. Which one do you use?

Nowadays none of them. I think users have a "period" of using these templates
Early phase mod helpers do. I'm old grumpy mod helper
Just downvote and CV :>

I don't have that privilege here yet. I just flag obvious HWs.
I have been using this only for two weeks.
Don't know when I'll get bored with auto.

Well, earlier it was flag and downvote :D

Fine. Do you use Gaurang's markdown shortcuts?

3:22 PM
I only rarely format these days, maybe 'cause I dunno about shortcuts :D

Ctrl+Alt+R for dollarify and \mathrm, produces a small \circ as a subscript. I want to ensure whether it's a problem on my end or not.
@Mithoron Fine :)
That seems to be a good time saver, although I'm getting used to it.

Q: Introducing: Markdown Shortcuts for StackExchange

Gaurang TandonInserting Mathjax and making posts look nice is rewarding, but it can often be, well, repetitive and boring :( Well, not any more. I have been testing and improving this userscript for quite some time now, and here it is in its first release! :D Markdown Shortcuts for StackExchange Because text...

Huh, I guess I missed that o.O
Or rather forgot later...

@Mithoron Now you're getting it

@M.A.R, your oxidation number post was nice. I read it only today. During your next update will you remove that extra space near the beginning "oxidation s tates"?
Though if it's the only edit, it might look superfluous.

Darn.
You should edit it yourself

Q: Electrolytic Refining of Silver Nitrate

ChopinI read that the electrolytic refining of Silver is done using dilute silver nitrate as an electrolyte and a small percentage of free $\ce{HNO3}$. The following reactions are possible at the anode: $$\ce{Ag ->Ag+ + e-}$$ $$\ce{ OH- -> 1/4O2 + 1/2H2O + e-}$$ But the second reaction has $E^\circ =...

@M.A.R. I can't suggest any edits which are less than 6 characters.
I've <2k points.

Well, let's see. What you propose requires at least . . . a few keystrokes and clicks. That's more effort than I'm willing to put in.
Besides, it was obviously a typo for the more observant type.
Congratulations! You earned a wooden badge

@M.A.R. Long time ago, in one of Jan's meta post, I saw a similar comment of yours regarding bullet points, but I'm unable to find it now.
