In High income improves evaluation of life but not emotional well-being, the authors make the distinction between two factors aspects to happiness and then evaluate each aspect's relation with income.
The first one is emotional well-being, which they define as:
Emotional well-being (sometime...
The traffic is pretty insane for three moderators alone, and our community has spent very little time growing before reaching that stage. We have not yet been able to kick out most of the bad apples.
@Borror0 It is not inappropriate, they just assume I do not know what I mean and I am an idiot. It is pessimistic, but it is "equally" as probable as my knowing what I mean if you do not actually have a history with me.
@Borror0 I would go volunteer to try to help you guys out but I am not active enough on skeptics to really be a valuable helper.
Sometimes, I feel like none of us will ever get re-elected because we continue to correct most of the current community. Pseudo-answers being the worse.
@Borror0 It needs to be done. You will keep hammering these principals in, if they do not accept it Skeptics may die. If they do you will be heralded as a visionary.
We will see if I even get reelected though. Most of our moderators excluding myself just disapeared for over a month, I did all of the moderation, and I have made people mad. Now that we graduated the moderators are back on and posting.
The site can only work if we are autocratic about answer quality.
My view is that, as us moderators enforce our draconian view of quality, users who disagree with us will leave after a while - only leaving us with those who care as much as us about quality.
I'm considering another answer:
Downvote them, just to be sure.
Flag them as "not an answer."
If appropriate, we'll delete them or convert them to comment.
Upvote if you agree. If this reaches the top, it'll be our policy in the future.
I feel like there's a problem with Stack Overflow, as the amount of people prowling it increases.
Each question's answers are sorted by descending score and then descending time of posting. This means that if a person sits down and answers a question in a long, thorough way, going through every ...

We have a tag for resources, a tag for references and a tag resources-references.
We should have no more than two of them, maybe even only one of them. Any thoughts which of those are the most useful?
It's ironic how the sites attracts both extremely good and extremely bad answers. There's always some guys defending weak positions with weak arguments.
Grr. I wish people were more skeptical when it comes to economics. Once again, minimum wage has not been shown to reduce inequality nor help the poor. As such, a raise of minimum wage is not "a long delayed move" or anything of the sort. Arg!! If you want to help the poor, give them money. Simple, no?
Apparently, the English monarchy had the motive and the opportunity:
In 1997, Princess Diana (Princess of Wales) and Dodi Fayed (son of Mohamed Fayed, owner of the Ritz Hotel and Harrods) were killed in a car accident while trying to get away from press photographers in Paris. The scandal sur...
@Sklivvz The problem with conspiracy theories is that they can't be refuted, only confirmed. for example, "is it true that the Illuminati are trying to X?" It can only be answered if X is true, but not if X is false. Precise claims, like @Mark's Building 7, however can be refuted.
@Sklivvz Fayed's conspiracy claims can be demolished but I'm not sure how one could show "not all has been said". Can you clarify your question ?..or am I missing something ?
@Sklivvz Literally, as in, "are there ongoing official investigations into these allegations?" Or merely, "is there anyone left on earth with the energy to continue speculating?"
People like to claim that less developed countries are happier, because they live the simple life and have stronger family ties and we've all surely heard the saying:
Money can't buy you happiness
Which is easy to dismiss by showing that rich nations do better on the satisfaction of life in...
@Borror0 I get the point of you comment on my fusion answer ...but what does "You may want to build change source though." mean ?...I'm sure it's a typo but I can't figure it out :)
Well, this guy had come into chat (he actually lived near me, but I didn't find that out until later)
and I was talking about playing with primordial soup.
and making microbes
and he starts telling chat about chemtrails
and I made a joke about chemtrails having microbes in them
I don't remember the exact progression from there, but there was a little bit of me not realizing that he was serious, so I made jokes about taking over the world with my microbes
and I had also gotten his ip from the irc and said I would send some over to him, first.
Skeptics reminds me that, no matter how stupid the people on my part of the Internet seem, I'm actually hanging out in one of the smartest part of the Internet. Seriously, where do you guys find these people?

I bought them because my landlord decided to be passive aggressive over groceries and I wanted food I could keep in my bedroom instead of in the kitchen.
