Anyone with a few spare moments over a coffee should read this article My disabled son, the nobleman, the philanderer, the detective. I'm a cold, hard, crusty old curmudgeon and reading this tugged at what was left of the dry husk of my my heart.
Well I'm getting more and more internally irate at the berks who put dirty crockery in the sink, right under the sign that says "please put dirty crockery in the dishwasher".
know what, in Spanish "coffee" is "cafe" but cafe is also "brown".... so I wonder, is Coffee "cafe" because it's brown or is brown called "cafe" because of coffee
I have 5 years of PHP Development experience and in our team there is game developer who has 1.5 years experience. Since I have 5 years I knows some of programming topics or in other words I more fluent then him in programming. So when team lead giving a task to us then he always try to get my at...
People have so many misconceptions of how we speak. In reality you can search Corsa chavs fighting a granny in youtube and you'll learn how the majority of people speak these days
What have you personally done to make the Workplace less hostile to newcomers/marginalized people who aren't US white men in IT? Do you think the new code of conduct has been effective toward that goal, what else would you propose? How would you deal with another mod who'd part of the problem?
So, apparently, blatant racism and sexism is being promoted now...
@Snow also (depressingly) it's not even close to being as offensive as a particularly sexist & racist answer I saw elsewhere on the network today (not on here - and I've flagged to that stack's mods)
@Nofel Part of how I cope is to allow myself to feel bad from time to time. Sort of like having an emotional overflow valve. You let a bit out so you don't have a flood
My usual coping strategy is just to call the day a write-off. Yes it's a bad day. That's OK. Recognize it's bad, there will be better days. I just allow myself time off. No washing dishes, just go easy.

And then it's just the usual: exercise, eat properly, sleep.
@Nofel there are days though, there are days.... I'll be okay though.
@singlemom Things get better over the course of time. But every so often, even years later, the stars align, the moon is in the right phase, and someone says something that sets you off, and you get pulled right back into the moment.
It becomes less and less frequent, but is still quite jarring when it happens.
@RichardU In my life there r people who I wanna scream at but my nature being a introvert kills me. I use to burn bt than I found I was hurting myself so I said "they r arse and I cannot ruin my day coz of them"
You haven't given a reason for the ban, at the risk of being unpopular, unlike others I'm going to assume there is a legitimate reason for it. I have seen valid reasons why this would happen ranging from theft of personal equipment to security breaches.
You can ask for an exemption, stating prod...
Kilisi strikes again with dead-on, but unpopular advice.
@Nofel a friend of mine once said to me. Never be afraid to kick someone when they're down if you want them to get up. Kick them a few times, and they will
No, what happened was a woman, wearing a long coat (fur, I think) went into the observation area, leaned up to the glass, and opened her coat, revealing her birthday suit underneath. Trading actually stopped for 30 seconds until security dragged her away

@RichardU we have a good community here and we need more help on the mod team. I know you had a bad experience last time, but could you please not assume that this means everybody will have a bad experience this time? There's been a lot of pre-election sniping that has the potential to derail the election. Doing that will not improve moderation here.
@MonicaCellio I'm not leading the charge here, just observing and I have said absolutely everything I'm going to say on the subject. I'm going to probably take some time off and, then come back when it's over
@RichardU taking a little time off sounds like it'd help with the stress and aggravation. Why make yourself unhappy when you could be doing something that brings you joy instead?
(Gotta go to a meeting; delayed response isn't personal.)
The question I'm referring to: Getting training on a job with a child on the way
This might be a legitimate question, but there's enough red flags for me:
Kid on the way (as in, by the time we're done pontificating this question, the kid will be here in all likelihood)
Girlfriend still attend...
