9:03 AM
Morning all
@RichardU people glorify one with when they become silent and have peace or when they r dead

4 hours later…
12:55 PM
@RichardU I am thinking of awarding my bounty now. Its three days early, is that bad form?
Happy Friday all, Dilly Dilly!!!!
Where the hell is everyone....is there a Zombie Apocalypse?

I'm here
although that's no proof of a lack of zombie apocalypse

@motosubatsu True...

1:45 PM
@MisterPositive Your bounty did get that question the attention it deserved
It's been slow in here

2:03 PM
@RichardU Thanks. I was poking around and found it. I was not happy with what I saw so heck with it.

2:15 PM
@motosubatsu I saw the new Kingsman film last night. I enjoyed it.

Q: If an applicant don't have all the "essential" skills for a Java Programmer job, will he/she be hired?

kalyA Java Developer job post has the following "Essential" requirements: Experience in SQL and PL SQL programming as required by the Java applications. Experience in implementing standard Java and JEE design patterns and best practices. Skill in programming with HTML, XML, Java, C la...

Sigh. One would think the word "essential" would be pretty universally understood. :|

@Lilienthal Hence the borderline sarcasm in my answer....

Yeah you got it pretty right there.
Sure there are hiring managers who say things are essential when they're not but it's a crapshoot to apply.

Like the guy who left the comment for me. Maybe it's just me being old and these days ob adverts are just there for guidance.

2:33 PM
@Snow That's the sad thing. In IT, the job adverts are often written by people who have no idea of what we do.
Anyone care to flag this one? Another jerk on a rampage
That's a terrible answer without knowing OP's financial position, and how easy they find it to get interviews. — JeffUK 1 hour ago

Flagged

@Snow nope pretty sure "essential" still means the same thing, companies will sometimes bend if they get no applicants with all the essentials and the skills a candidate is missing can be easily taught on the job but generally applying without the essentials list is a bad idea

2:48 PM
It seems like a pretty pointless question then.

@Snow What did you think compared to the original? I felt it just retread the same ground with awful CGI added in for some parts. It was good, but not as excellent as the first sadly.

I just enjoy films for what they are. I don't get hung up on stuff too much.

3:41 PM
Ugh, I just had to show a coworker an inherited, convoluted process.
@motosubatsu that was the fun thing about the 90's. Nobody knew what they were doing and "requirements" were more of a wish-list than anything else.

3:53 PM
Has anyone noticed that the higher rated your answer is, the more likely you are to get nasty comments saying what a terrible answer it is?

@RichardU yep, its also true with hi rep
( I think over 30k is considered high rep?? )

@MisterPositive yeah, there does seem to be a direct correlation of snark to rep

Q: Edit rolled back - can we try to save this question?

bharalIn line with this request a good faith attempt has been made to edit a question that isn't a good fit for our site. This edit has now been rolled back, because " Sloppy mistakes aside you changed too much and significantly altered the premise and especially the tone of the post which is not th...

THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^ Is why I never want to be a moderator.

@RichardU A bit out of my comfort zone or ability to commit time too

@MisterPositive I don't have the temperament for it. Plus, I'd have to act like an adult.

5:08 PM
@RichardU I have the "I cannot deal with stupid or snowflakes". I can be an adult thought.
though

@MisterPositive I do very poorly at adulating.

LOL
Its ok, you have other Strengths.

@MisterPositive I've got to sit down and write that book about my life story. I'll have to write it as fiction as nobody would believe it otherwise :D

@RichardU I cannot complain, but my life story is not book worthy LOL
Have nice weekend everyone!!

5:23 PM
@MisterPositive my life has been such that I now consider boredom to be an admirable goal. The only reason I haven't committed suicide is that I can't wait to see what happens next
Good weekend to you sisre

2 hours later…
7:06 PM
@RichardU Boredom is overrated - it gives you too much time too think about how much being bored sucks.

7:48 PM
@NotThatGuy I'll have to take your word for it as I've had far too much excitement to ever be bored

2 hours later…
9:18 PM
Someone else might've seen this too, to their disgust, I'm all too sure, but one of those two o's was one too many in one of those two too's I decided to put in the comment two comments up.
