So... to not start things wrong, whenever I don't have intersections I can use an unrouted pipe from LP, otherwise I use at least a MK1, right?
DH.
DH.
K, thanks

6 hours later…
06:34
Oh God
Server gonna be kill before any of us reach end game if y'all start using logistics pipes
07:01
@DH. basic logistics pipes are good enough, you don't need mk1 chassis pipes unless you want to put modules in
@Ieuan plz to give alternative
07:52
@Jochem rush to AE
@ratchetfreak in this pack, AE requires 2 enriched sunnarium alloy and two galgadorian metal
there's no real rushing there, and you need autocrafting before you can even think about AE
you need a IC2 reactor to have run for a few cycles before you can start AE
and then get the mass fab and just pump in ALL THE POWER
08:10
I couldn't handle the microcrafting by the time I had to make a sagmill... so I really don't want to have to build a mass fab and nuclear reactor including all it's components manually
well that doesn't need a massive autocrafting system

1 hour later…
09:31
@Jochem LAZ0RS
09:59
@Jochem AE, extra utils, enderIO even has some of the stuff needed
2 hours ago, by Jochem
@ratchetfreak in this pack, AE requires 2 enriched sunnarium alloy and two galgadorian metal
And none of the other things you listed have the on demand smart crafting that LP and AE2 provide
@KevinvanderVelden that's why I mentioned multiple alternatives
"I'm driving to the south of france"
"cars are dangerous, you shouldn't drive"
"plz alternatives"
"build and take a plane, walk, or skip to the south of france"
and honestly, I doubt LP is that much worse than AE
for your FPS, sure, but I'm not necessarily buying it for TPS
@Jochem it really is quite bad in terms of both TPS and FPS, but I doubt it's going to be noticable here unless we all turn into @KevinvanderVelden
@Ieuan well you're already you so =p
10:15
there is the opacity upgrade
will save some fps
@ratchetfreak not TPS though
Hell the worst TPS hogs I've been able to track down so far were the conduits (enderio?) and basically any kind of item transfer system that isn't extrautils
For whatever reason transfer nodes are pretty decent but things like generic buildcraft pipes, the IE conveyor belts and logistics pipes are just insane
10:28
extrautils without speed upgrades, checks at most 4 or 5 inventories (and usually 0 or 1) every 20 ticks per regular transfer node.
EnderIO checks every connected inventory in the entire network multiple times per second I think
all the others also check everything, have to then route the items, _and_ keep track of where they are in the system
@Jochem Yeah especially that last part is probably bad
It has to constantly keep track of everything connected to the system while transfer nodes just check what's connected when needed
Anyone happen to know of a cheap-ish way to reset a casting table?
Could be worse. You might have been stuck with vanilla hoppers and carts.
@Ieuan to get the liquid out? EnderIO fluid tank
it's just some iron, and it can pull and push
@Jochem Specifically to easily press a button to get rid of the 3 nuggets that I apparently put in
to void it, or to get it back?
10:35
For that matter, the EnderIO fluid transport thingy can also easily pull out the liquid and pump it right back into the smeltery.
@MartinSojka the pack we're currently playing has those gated behind the thermal centrifuge / ore washing plant
autarchic gates are cheaper than enderio conduits, strangely enough
Even the unpressurised ones? Ok, that's a problem.
@Jochem void is fine, really don't want to reroute it back into the smeltery because that would just give me the same issue again
@Jochem the normal conduits seem... doable
@MartinSojka binder composite requires stone dust
Oh nvm
@Jochem please tell me you didn't just boot up the game just to check a recipe
10:38
@Ieuan void pipe on a fluid tank is probably your best bet
@Ieuan I usually play a bit before work and then take breaks during the day playing 15 minutes here and there, I just keep the client running but disconnected
Is there any way to get electrotine?
Oh, there is
Sieving sand
DH.
DH.
@Ieuan Sifting sand
Omg ninja'd again
so those cute auto sieves from ex compressum, that you can upgrade using books? They eat the books slowly. .1% chance per operation of degrading the level until it's just a book :(
I'm gonna replace them with the ex astris ones, at least those just take more power. And more power is just more culinary generators and more beef wellington
DH.
DH.
Oh that sucks :c
Good that I already started with the Ex Astris one
I could try to automate replacing the books, but that's so much more work, and there's plenty else to automate
10:47
But those little guys are the best
I'm gonna have a cage and put all of you guys in there sieving away for me
Also they don't throw materials everywhere if it gets jammed.
@Jochem what were you using them for?
I'm getting plenty resources with my auto heavy sieve setup
@Ieuan the classic 6-pulverizers into 3 sieves setup
I should get a bunch of those auto compressed hammers
But so expensive
@Jochem don't do that, you're wasting insane amounts of power
That's my setup, since added automatic infinite gravel input
The difference between normal sieves and heavy sieves in power is insane
10:49
If you're just using one type of resource why not use a compacting drawer?
You'd be better off increasing your input since cobble is free anyway and then using the heavy sieves
Less lag and no power use
@Ieuan But then how do you get the resources from dust and sand?
@Ronan still working on making more hammerers to turn gravel into sand/dust before compressing
It's now cobble > hammerers > compressor
but I could easily add another line or two of hammerers
@Ieuan Then you need 6 pulverisers and 3 sieves.
10:51
@KevinvanderVelden because that's actually logical and efficient and I'm me
meh, power is cheap
Fortunately one of my tasks for tonight is move resource generation into the basement
@Jochem it's not just power though, the heavy sieves are about twice as fast at going through the same cobble/gravel/sand input and the output is more than half of that of the normal sieves
DH.
DH.
Today I'll try to make automation of the sieving to the compressors and putting them in a buffer chest, before I setup LP
Yay! A rubber tree just grew
Dynmap is kinda the best
10:53
So in the same time you end up with slightly more output, way less power and a bit more input
DH.
DH.
Dynmap doesn't draw MFR trees :'c
they give you 5/9th of the resources, so you're better off speeding up the regular sieves, aren't you?
@DH. CC @Ieuan
@Jochem 5/9th in 1/2 the time, so 10/9 in the same time?
@Jochem I mean, why not both?
Go with the auto heavy sieves for more output and less power at the cost of more cobble input and speed them up all the same
How many water wheels do you have?
10:55
@KevinvanderVelden I suppose with enough cobble input, yeah... I wasn't thinking infinite input for some reason
And did you know you can hook 3 up to a single kinetic generator?
@KevinvanderVelden me?
I'll replace my sieves with auto-heavies then I suppose
I have like.. 10? 11?
10:56
I'm not at all spying on you
I can't count
I think it's 11
Count the water blocks lol
DH.
DH.
I'm too lazy, I only 3 water wheels so far
Yeah, you're being inefficient with your kinetic generators
You can have 3 times as much power from the ones you have
@KevinvanderVelden how?
How can you hook up 3 water wheels to one?
DH.
DH.
Yeah
10:57
Oh wait
DH.
DH.
they just attach
I've stopped caring about resource production, I'm getting enough to work with for now. I'm sure I could make it more efficient.
You can stack the wheels
Damnit
DH.
DH.
With a basic setup you can generate 75RF/t with 3 Wheels together
If you don't care about making some weird layout, you can get an extra 8RF/t
10:58
I have no idea how much power I'm making, I don't even have any form of power storage.
Probably around the 80rf/t range though.
Oh wait, 160, I have two sets of 3 wheels
LP power transfer is the best by the way
I don't know the limit but it's high
DH.
DH.
But it requires the RF transfer module in each intersection right?
Not the RF transfer module, the way cheaper power transfer module at each corner you take
So if you go in a line it's all good, but if you want a corner then you have to add a module
So for my farm I use 3 transfer modules and 1 RF transfer module
For about 30+ north, 20 south and then 20 down
@KevinvanderVelden I changed it, this look better?
(And then the powering bit)
@Ieuan yes :)
11:03
Now I have 5 dynamos left over
Which means you can make 15 more water wheels
:D
Waterwheels are the cheap part anyway!
@KevinvanderVelden what do I need that much power for lol
You should do it anyway.
I'd better try get the improved water wheels instead
11:04
@Ieuan MOAR auto sieving?
Or are there no improved ones?
Is that only wind mills?
you could squeeze a little bit more power out of them by placing a row of water sources at the back
Why do I need 28 culinary gens with beef wellington? MOAR POWAR
DH.
DH.
You'll definitely need the power when you get more machines
(Yes, each of those generates 62 or so RF/t, I have sufficient power for quite a while)
11:05
I've started on solar panels, so far I have one tier 3
Nice!
I was thinking of setting that up but then culinary gens
I have 2 T1s though =p
DH.
DH.
I have only 10 eletroctine I think, but I need to save them for IC2 batteries lol
I've got like 100 or so I think
I need to get autocrafting working, and then I can finally build the harvester and farms and things. Then ALL the culinary generators!
I will also steal @KevinvanderVelden's.
=[
That's okay though, I can autocraft more
11:10
@KevinvanderVelden But I need all of them.
I'LL AUTOCRAFT MORE
Hmm @Ieuan look this up, what do you need for an teleport setup
@KevinvanderVelden what kind of teleporter?
When I get that I can start building the waybuilder
@Ieuan uuh, any long range one
Like rftools, I don't know what others have similar features
@KevinvanderVelden RFTools needs a resonant machine frame per block, at least 2 blocks for sending and 1 for receiving
other than that just some iron and stuff
Hmmm crap
I need 2 more enderpearls to catch an enderman and get infinite of it
11:13
ProjectRed teleposer
8 electrotine and one iron for the ingot
That's the TE one
Needs a bunch of ender pearls
DH.
DH.
4 ender pearls
IC2 one seems reasonable
DH.
DH.
Urrrg how I hated to craft this thing in IE:E
11:14
Yeah but the energy cost increases way too much
DH.
DH.
The microcrafting pain
The max range is way less than the few thousand required
Resource wise the BM teleposer is cheapest but that requires blood
RFTools is quite a bit of power and a damn resonant frame
Not sure about the TE one but that's enderium ingots too
DH.
DH.
Resonant Frame is a Emerald Chipset and a Enderium Gear right?
(And the other common resources)
I'd say apart from the gear resources shouldn't be a problem
You need a pretty decent assembly table setup though unless you want to wait 7 years
DH.
DH.
11:17
Oh yeah the absurd amount of RF required
I almost forgot that
@Ieuan I might go for that
@KevinvanderVelden the blood magic one?
Keep in mind that they need the linking item too
I'll just set up a hub, me <-> everyone
11:28
The RFTools one can go from and to any public receiver/transmitter
so that would mean one hop instead of two
Yeah but way more expensive
@KevinvanderVelden true :P
Easier to setup though
(Assuming they didn't make transposers way more expensive)
Also if you want this on a separate island I can log in my lil brother's account to generate one
Although spawn would be perfect for that too
I've got a second account as well
DH.
DH.
11:29
I've never played with BM (yeah I didn't get to the endgame in IE:E)
But I'll probably place it somewhere near my base
Possibly in the cage-with-autosievers
So that you can see who you're going to
Goals for today: Start blood magic, redo auto sieving setup, fully setup MFR crafting
Should I update the server before that though?
@KevinvanderVelden is there any reason to besides the recipe changes?
Nether generation fix, and we can craft buckets with logistics pipes again
DH.
DH.
It wasn't generating fortress?
It was generating a ground I think
I've not been there yet
11:39
Hmm
@KevinvanderVelden I found another one
DH.
DH.
Another expensive one
@DH. Not really honestly
Octadic capacitor isn't cheap
At least I think that's octadic, could be the 2nd tier
@KevinvanderVelden yeah it is
DH.
DH.
By the glow, it is octadic
11:40
And they're not cheap but not super expensive either
The staff is probably the hardest for this one
Enderman soul vial and vibrant crystal
Some kind of soul thing right
Yeaaaah
+ you need an ender electron tube which is end stone, not sure how hard that is to get with ex nihilo
Ender pearls + sand in a tinkers smeltery I think
Yup, on the task list for today: Get MFR grinder/spawner setup
DH.
DH.
@KevinvanderVelden In IE:E you can't smelt Ender Pearls in the smeltery, so I'm not so sure if this is the right way
Magma crucible?
I dunno
11:46
@KevinvanderVelden Yeah magma crucible outputting into a drain or a liquid transfer node should work fine
DH.
DH.
Yeah, maybe with a magma crucible and a fluid transposer you can craft it
1 peal + 5 obsidian in smeltry = 5 end stone
1 pearl + 1 sandstone = 1 end stone
Sandstone one works with fluid transposer too
DH.
DH.
Oh so they didn't removed that recipe? nice
It was how I always made to get early end stone for the lilies
@Ieuan lava+glowstone=endstone using ex nihilo
DH.
DH.
@ratchetfreak That's way cheaper lol
11:49
depends on how big your lava setup is
12:12
Glad we got that recipe
Yeaaah I don't know why that's listed there
Some weird bug
DH.
DH.
The normal recipe was supposed to double the pearl right?
@DH. probably something like that
Doubtful, that's only with the duplication catalyst isn't it?
12:27
that's because you don't trade enderpearls with the elves, you trade manapearls
people complained that if you forgot, and gave them enderpearls, you'd lose your enderpearls, so Vazkii added this recipe to give them back
there's also one for diamonds I think
Huh, that makes sense
I kinda wish the thing would just not show if the input is the same as the output
maybe JEI will do that :D
I mean, that's not a general thing I'd add, maybe it's useful for the mod
But in the NEI plugin for botania I'd add it
12:49
@Jochem good guy Vazkii
Even helping the stupid people
I'm reading about weapons programs from the '60s and '70s, the US was INSANE
they were apparently working on shaped thermonuclear explosives
@Jochem well yeah you kinda don't want 50% of the blast being skywards
one plan was effectively a nuclear shotgun that would propel a jet of material at 0.03C
reading this makes me realize why contemporary fantasy books generally stay away from epic large scale battles
> 'I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.'
DH.
DH.
13:06
Well, and Russia was testing the Czar bomb
The WW2 and Cold War had the most weird prototypes
this stuff makes for super interesting reading, I'm just really glad they never ended up making any of this crap
Well they did make the czar bomb
well, yes, but that was just a Really Big nuke, nothing more than setting off several at once
some of the proposals they had were a lot scarier, and more scifi
@Jochem a true "laser" gun as you'll see in sci fi
@ratchetfreak yeah, effectively. A plasma lance I suppose?
that's the page I was reading
13:22
@ratchetfreak sci fi "laser" guns are way slower than .03c
IIRC they don't even break the sound barrier
@KevinvanderVelden they would also splat on the ground after a few yards so...
I've not seen the SFX ones in movies have gravity
everything has gravity
DH.
DH.
Even light?
why else would light be unable to escape a black hole
A gravitational lens refers to a distribution of matter (such as a cluster of galaxies) between a distant source and an observer, that is capable of bending the light from the source, as it travels towards the observer. This effect is known as gravitational lensing and the amount of bending is one of the predictions of Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity. (Classical physics also predicts bending of light, but only half that of general relativity's.) Although Orest Khvolson (1924) or Frantisek Link (1936) are sometimes credited as being the first ones to discuss the effect in print, the...
DH.
DH.
13:25
I never read about, so that's why I asked
it's weird to think about something without mass being affected by gravity, but that's general relativity for you: really really weird
DH.
DH.
Well you see, you know that light is something because you can move things with light
Could all just be an illusion =p
afaik, it's massless but has momentum. That momentum can be transferred, but it doesn't actually have any mass
DH.
DH.
There this old experiment where you make something paperweight with one side painted in black and the other in white, put a few of these and it spins by just having light on it, it's really cool
13:39
Uugh I know what you're talking about but I don't remember the name, it's so annoying =[
DH.
DH.
Neither me lol
The Crookes radiometer, also known as a light mill, consists of an airtight glass bulb, containing a partial vacuum. Inside are a set of vanes which are mounted on a spindle. The vanes rotate when exposed to light, with faster rotation for more intense light, providing a quantitative measurement of electromagnetic radiation intensity. The reason for the rotation was a cause of much scientific debate in the ten years following the invention of the device, but in 1879 the currently accepted explanation for the rotation was published. Today the device is mainly used in physics education as a d...
it's actually not because of light pressure, but because of a thermodynamic effect
the black sides heat up, which causes them to push at the sparse molecules in the chamber
DH.
DH.
Yeah I know, it just remembered me how light have so much stuff on it
13:42
it's still a super cool experiment :D
and a good reminder that science is complicated, even in seemingly simple circumstances
but there are few experiments that satisfy the inner pyro more than the magnifying glass + sun experiment
DH.
DH.
Like wearing black clothes in a sunny day?
@DH. I have no idea what you're talking about
DH.
DH.
It was supposed to be a joke
(Hint: I've frequently worn black full length trousers on holidays in the sun)
DH.
DH.
13:55
Probably because you live in a country that don't make 40ºC
Then you would understand the joke
@DH. turkey, greece, etc
Note the on holidays bit
DH.
DH.
Wearing black clothes in those hellish day is asking to be cooked up
Not that a white cloth will save your life
Another problem around here is the humidity of the air, I think I never saw it below 70%
14:23
Wave–particle duality is the concept that every elementary particle or quantic entity may be partly described in terms not only of particles, but also of waves. It expresses the inability of the classical concepts "particle" or "wave" to fully describe the behavior of quantum-scale objects. As Einstein wrote: "It seems as though we must use sometimes the one theory and sometimes the other, while at times we may use either. We are faced with a new kind of difficulty. We have two contradictory pictures of reality; separately neither of them fully explains the phenomena of light, but together they...
As Einstein discovered, light is more than just a wave
14:36
@DH. I don't live in a country like that, but during Metaldays there are thousands of people wearing all black clothing in 40° weather :p
@Arperum but they're made of metal, so they have a higher melting point!
@Jochem why hello there mercury
@KevinvanderVelden I was gonna say aluminum but mercury is indeed even worse
It's a liquid at room temperature
At least say lead or something =p
(Heck, it's a liquid at -40 C, if only just)
15:09
You mean -40 F
Nope
Even when it's the same thing I categorically do not mean the farenheit version
I think @KevinvanderVelden only ever means degrees Rankine, right?
Yes, -40 Ra
Clearly
I mean, it's rankine, maybe in rankine you can get even colder than absolute zero
I know that makes absolutely zero sense...
but still!
15:30
@Jochem How is that possible?
I thought absolute zero was the complete lack of any energy
Can you get negative energy?
12 mins ago, by Kevin van der Velden
And he was joking
it's hard to tell sometimes, I admit
Naah, I blame @Ieuan
Also!
in The Bridge, 2 hours ago, by Kevin van der Velden
@badp we should play cards against humanity and other boardgames IRL again sometime
15:46
that sounds like a good plan
Talk in a steam group with badp later tonight?
16:03
@Ieuan Temperature just says which way energy flows, it has more energy that absolute zero, but energy will flow into it from absolute zero.

1 hour later…
17:11
damnit, it seems like LP can't read the status of the input slot on a auto heavy hammer
it just keeps sending stuff :(
is anybody on?
nobodys on?
ello?
himy nameisjeff and immen
Jochem are u on?
17:29
@gamer103 What's up?

1 hour later…
18:48
@Ronan I Dunno. How bout u? whats up?

2 hours later…
20:39
Giant thank, giant tank, does whatever a giant tank does
10 thousand buckets of mob essence should be enough, right?
DH.
DH.
Not if you use Exact Copy
Well it's my buffer until I can build a spawner
21:17
For future reference: 31 creeper heads in my system
21:27
36 now* I should have gone to bed 10 minutes ago =p
Also another derpy squid:

2 hours later…
DH.
DH.
23:35
Wait, what? The OpenBlocks Fans work trough blocks?
