Are we resetting to Unleashed?
@KevinvanderVelden I think it's a conversation that ought to happen
Unleashed looks cool, and has no Greg
Which I'm beginning to view as a downside (for versions of greg before he went insane and started nerfing planks)
@KevinvanderVelden Oh dear, you've been taken
Maybe ^^
I really like the quantum tank, and the fusion reactor is pretty damn cool
Also centrifuging ALL THE THINGS
13:40
@KevinvanderVelden Bah
@KevinvanderVelden ... nerfing planks? How? :D
Stupid plate bending machine
@MartinSojka Log -> plank is now 2 planks rather than one
Rather than four, you mean ...
This is real.
13:41
@fredley Haha! I was first
@KevinvanderVelden You didn't embed image, so you lose
and yes @MartinSojka rather than 4, sorry :)
Hmm editing it didn't work =p
You win this round porkchop!
Wow. Crazy, indeed. It's an iron axe. I could make one with a few stones to bash a bunch of iron in shape, a sturdy tree trunk and a lot of patience if I really needed to.
And thats not to mention the drama with the tinkers construct mod, which undid the nerf, so greg added crashing code
(Slightly longer and slightly more nuanced, but if you add crashing code you lose automatically)
unleashed? what's that?
13:48
New 1.5 modpack
oooh
Or 1.6 maybe, not sure
1.5.2
1.6 would be unlikely, most "interesting" mods still didn't update or have only "beta" versions.
Thankfully, you can disable most GregTech shenanigans, right?
@MartinSojka most, but it's irrelevant, GT is not in unleashed (it's in the unhinged modpack)
13:52
@KevinvanderVelden I don't see the pack in the list BTW
@M'vy it's in beta so it is a private pack, feed-the-beast.com/disclaimer.php
oh
@KevinvanderVelden I like "Unhinged" as a name for a pack with Greg in it, who clearly has come slightly unhinged...
I started a Unleashed SSP world yesterday, it's quite novel so far, can't wait to try out my TC Smeltery later
@Jochem it is indeed the perfect name for it :)
I honestly didn't mind gregtech, but his recent behavior kinda kills it for me :/
13:58
Yeah =[
I kinda want to learn minecraft modding so I can help some of the efforts to build a replacement xp
it's not even the nerfs of vanilla stuff that do it for me, it's his attitude and the fact that because of his massive ego, the unhinged pack has less than half the mods of the Unleashed pack
heh, I hear minecraft's code is a prime example of spaghetti code, so I'm not really going to bother with that <_<
@Jochem jeaaah, its pretty damn bad, I looked at it a bit
Maybe if they ever implement that promised modding API, I'll take a look...
Heh, I doubt they even should, forge is fine for modding.
What I would like is if they officially implemented a modloader with autoupdating and the like.
Just accept that they've long since missed the opportunity to define the modding API and just make something to help the players
They could also release the source code for what it's worth now
14:04
Speaking of mod coding, looks like the Forge guys added an OBJ model loader ...
Hmmm, I dont know if that's really needed at this point, new code is obfuscated with a day or 2 and it's already automated pretty much completely.
Courtesy of Pahimar (of EE3 fame), too. That guy is awesome.
@MartinSojka jeah, suddenly a lot of technically impressive things in minecraft don't look all that impressive anymore =p
Right now, MineCraft's obfuscation is purely for the purpose of shrinking down the binary size (Java's file format is extremely wasteful with space).
@MartinSojka really? I'd be surprised if it made that big a difference. Compared to the texures and sounds a few bytes per variable shouldn't matter much.
But I dont know much about java (slept through the classes in school, got 10/10, forgot all about it)
14:15
@KevinvanderVelden Something like 10-20% depending on the length of the names of your class files (which get referenced in full every time they are needed, like in method arguments and return values).
@MartinSojka o.o that could safe quite a bit
... and that includes the full names of the packages too.
@MartinSojka seriously... f-ing java >.>
Java was designed by people who decided that RAM, disk space or network speed are essentially infinite, and it shows.
Jup, but for ram that's basically any system that has GC
14:25
Assuming several separate GCs will play nicely with each other and clean up when the other one needs some space is delusional at best. Doubly so when designing for 32 bit systems with their more-than-2GB-RAM addressing problems, like the Java designers were.
I like how this channel can go from "we should potentially discuss a minecraft server reset" to the intricate details of Java memory management in 15 minutes flat :D

Hey, the bridge is currently talking about mcdonalds hamburgers, this is at least tangentially related =p
Noohs, xeno's reliquary is disabled in unleashed =[
I turned it back on, I love that mod
especially cause he's going to be taking over and potentially integrating soul shards :o
Uhhuh, that mod is so cool
Though I just use it for the GT fusion reactor... and masses of redstone.
don't forget the coin of fortune
14:32
OOOOh YES!
I also turned on BoP, which is also kinda cool
Most important item EVER
I also use the handgun for rain-control
and the lilypad of fertility of course
Oh yeah.. that's how I got 5M sugar cane
and the destruction catalyst, though that'll likely be replaced by the excavator / hammer from TC
14:35
@Jochem meh, never really used the destruction catalyst
oh man, now I don't know what to play tonight :/ new-to-me minecraft or the brand new KSP version :o
Used it to clear out 1 small room or so but I found my powertool better for it
Play KSP! If we reset then it'll be newer for you :)
true...
14:57
Time to go, BBQ with friends :D
Cya guys :)
15:54
@fredley I like Greg!
So, wait, what's going on, are we talking server refresh?
16:14
Server refresh?! sticks fingers in ears LALALALALALALALALALA....

4 hours later…
user43095
19:58
Nevermind, stupid idea.
user43095
Anyway, I have an ultimate server. I can reach the internal IP, local host, but not the external IP. Port Forwarding is configured properly. What's wrong?
can you reach the internal ip from a different pc?
in the same network that is?
@Jochem This should work.
@Coronus if it does, it's likely portforwarding (or unlikely but still possible the windows firewall). if it doesn't, it's the windows firewall
So everything's configured on your computer to accept connections, I'll have to assume port forwarding is set up right. Do you know if your provider blocks the ports you want?
@Jochem Wouldn't Windows firewall block the request using the IP even if it's the same computer?
20:05
@Coronus depends on the settings
if it's set to public network, you should still be able to access your own local IP, but you wouldn't be able to across the network from another pc
My assumption is that it would treat the request as if it was from another machine, if relying on the router to locate the server.
it wouldn't ever leave the PC though, it won't route traffic for it's own IP to the default gateway
Oh, I see, so even though it has to go somewhat further up the stack, it may not leave the machine.
Or does it alias the current assigned IP as localhost?
I'm not a network guy at all, so don't mind me. :P
afaik, it would get just as far as traffic for 127.0.0.1, I'm pretty sure that's "just an IP" except for the convention of assigning it to localhost
I'm kinda a part-time network guy myself, haven't done much with it lately
20:22
127.0.0.1 is accessible only on the computer
if you want to access it from another you need the ethernet address.
@M'vy I know, we're talking network traffic from localhost to own local LAN IP
If the computer is listening to 127.0.0.1, you would need port forwarding for other compters
@M'vy we're talking router-assigned (e.g. 192.168.*.*)
@KevinvanderVelden How was the BBQ?
@Coronus good food :) good company :)
And I cant be stealthy at all can I =p
21:15
@Coronus not sure I'm following
Oh I see
I missed a line
my bad
