@RubyJunk My opinion as an outsider: This site is certainly different from many other SE sites. One problem arises due to the very nature of "hardware recommendations". Most people don't need them everyday. This is completely different to sites about programming or other hobbies. There, you will have a very large fan-base that are willing to spend much time on the site.

I maybe wrong, but I believe a majority of users will be one time visitors.

@michaelpri It's an interesting topic. What we sometimes do on mathematica.se is that we allow off topic stuff that is really related to be posted on meta. For instance we have a community poll Q&A that is highly interesting but would be off topic by the rules of the main site.

@JourneymanGeek Oh, funny story, we indeed got new ones that really looked awesome. The problem was that they are so prone to static charging through your clothes, that I build a custom made lighting conductor for my colleague.

I preferred to keep my old chair.

At the moment I'm unemployed. Best prospect is at a startup (and hopefully they get back to me soon). Their chairs don't look that good tho
