ARGHHHHHHHHHHH
lol
"Not based on a dead chipset"
ROFL
Actually, that looks like a pretty evenhanded comparison
though "double the cores" isn't quite accurate
Haha :)
Double the "cores" is accurate
Double the "FPUs" is not
^-^
and for $deity's sake, I hope zen's cool
Me too
I'd like some options for dadbox and desktop +1
01:50
Otherwise AMD as a company will probably die
:(
Oh, I like options, and I don't want a ARM system as my main PC ;p
I mean they haven't released a processor that's not a rebrand in > 3 years
ALmost as bad as via!
I feel like we're not in sync with each other
I thought they were doing new APUs tho
01:52
Well, the A10-7850K
Its the enthusiast stuff that was lagging badly.
That's what I meant
Intel's "lower-end" "i3"s rather suck
IMO
lol
intel's power efficient on the low end tho
I'm seriously surprised at how well-received that answer was.
and I sort of go on the extreme low and medium high ends. ;p
01:53
:)
Its a decent, even handed answer, giving options ;p
No one likes a fanbiy
I just thought it would downvoted to hell
By Intel employees/fanboys/fangirls/idiots stalking the web -_-
That's what happened on PCP :(
Lol
(Lets see, on my desk, I have a core i5/sandy bridge laptop (an x220, which while wasn't a flagship, is a great system, a core i7 bay trail, with a 980ti, so verging on high high end, a bay trail celeron brix, a stream 11, and a remix mini)
though the remix mini isn't plugged in at the moment, I need to reorganise my screens.
Lucky..
lol
oh, and two old thinkpads on the floor.
I ran out of space.
@RubyJunk: heh, the x220 was my school laptop.
01:56
On my desk I have an ASUS VivoBook X202E with an i3-3217U that thermal throttles and a wonderful, most wonderful intel HD graphics 4000
-_-
meh
on the low low end, bay trail and its replacement are the thing.
"core i7 bay trail, with a 980ti" "verging on the high-end"
Dude, that is damn super-high end
;P
er
core i7 ivy bridge
Ahh
I was googling i7 Baytrail
But I figured it must be good to be paired with a 980 Ti. Lol
and no, its a medium high end box from 2 years ago, upgraded so I can run my current monitor (a dell p2715q, which is a great monitor, with features above its price bracket in some ways) at decent quality at 4k.
02:00
:)
I wish I had your hardware :)
Dreamy state ensues
Save!
(I built my system saving over a year)
02:01
Nice
I just budget for these things when I have an income.
So... 3 months saving for a 900 sgd video card, ditto for the monitor
No upgrades now, since I have no job, tho I'm planning ahead for a second monitor that's either IPS or 4k.
Or maybe get an X34 Predator
When you have the money :) (~$1200)
Lol, LTT fan here xD
As u can probably tell
I'm looking at a cheapo korean screen
02:03
The QNIX stuff?
ebay.com/itm/… is the 4k I'm looking at.
IMO, you should get 1440p 120hz
The problem with the cheap QHDs are they are DVI only, and I'd like some options in terms of port
naw
60 hz is fine.
I don't have 120fps experience, unfortunately
60fps is godlike to me
02:04
Since most games run at ~30 :(
I'd actually recommend my dell if you want a decent, pretty monitor.
4k at 27 inches is sooooo sharp
I like my monitors enough :)
1080p@21inches is OK :)
lol
I was running 1600x900 for years.
then 4k
1280x1024 --> 1920x1080 here
My mom was like "Why do you need such a big screen"
Now she's like
02:06
Haha
"Oh my, the colours on it are so nice"
Every. time. she. walks. in.
xD
I have an excellent monitor recommendation for you!
I'm sure it will meet your budget
Dell 5K? Soooooooo sharp
I'll ask a question on Hardware recs ;p
Pricy though
02:07
Disclaimer: (Not speaking from experience)
2x the price of a 4k?
Because I don't own one ;P
2x the price of 4k?
No
6x the price of 4K? Yes.
Woah, I didn't know you can put in Amazon links like that :O
the one in the middle is what I have
Neat
I gtg, bye :)
I picked 27 inches cause scientifically its the optimal size for a 4k computer screen ;p
02:10
Have a wonderful day =)
ANyway, the magic in designing a system is in maximum utility in minimum cost
so 5k dosen't make much sense yet
(except if you want to work on native 4k with room to spare)
UHD does have future utility but right now is primarily nice for pretty fonts.

Q: Blu-ray / DVD player which will read / play over wifi to Mac / iPad / tv?

JulesI'm looking for a solution where I can play and read blu-ray / DVD discs on my Mac book pro, iPad and be a normal player for the tv. I'm hoping I can find such a device which will work over Ethernet or wifi. I haven't been able to find a player which will play to tv, Mac and iPad, I don't know ...

Would this be on topic here?

Piotr FalkowskiFor the build MSI Z170A GAMING PRO (Z170 3xPCI-E DDR4) Intel i5-6500 3.20GHz 6MB BOX A-DATA 240GB 2,5'' SATA SSD Premier SP550 Monitor: Eizo FlexScan S1901 (1280 x 1024) GeForce GTX960 4096MB 128bit OC (Armor 2X) what memory would you buy, and why?
