@terdon though messing up with the underlying syntax through macro processing (with aliases or with the preprocessor in C) is something I'd expect many would like to avoid in production use, anyway, so it's perhaps not such a huge loss if one is unfamiliar with that sort of stuff.
In most cases the answers here tend to say "don't use aliases" etc. (and there are good reasons for that), but of course that question rather calls for weird solutions exactly because it's about embedding in the script some code that isn't code in the language in question.

Has anyone used Testdisk recently on an ext4 partition?
I distinctly remember being able to recover deleted files from an ext4 partition using testdisk a couple many times. In fact I used it successfully in January month.
I was trying a couple of things in Virtualbox where I needed to see if I could undelete a file.
Strangely, testdisk no longer offers an option to show deleted files (Undelete option) for ext4 partition.
This is bizarre.
Is there a software in Linux ecosystem which can list any deleted files, that is not limited to images or music files only?
