Q: printing a string's "canonical print-escaped form"

kjoI'm trying to write a function, I'll call it escape, that will behave like this: % IFS=$' \t\n\000' % escape FOO $IFS FOO=$' \t\n\000' In other words, escape takes two arguments, and then, taking the first one to be a variable name, it prints out a line a zsh source code in which a variable of...

Q: Is btrfs stable enough for home usage?

Sam Saffronbtrfs has finally found its way into the latest kernels, is it considered stable and safe enough to use in a home backup scenario (as an alternative to zfs) ?

@MichaelMrozek @Gilles ^ I'm thinking of closing this btrfs question as too localized, it has occurred to me that the status of the filesystem is ever changing and that all answers are speculative
opinions?
01:25
actually I'm just going to curmudeon and close it as too localized though could also be not a good question because its based on pure opinion.
if anyone thinks I'm wrong feel free to reopen and let me know why

Michael DurrantEither I either had this somewhere 20 years ago or I dreamed about it. Basically: If if type blobblob I get blobblob: command not found Fair enough. I would like it so that when my shell gets those errors - command not found - it checks to see if a directory exists with that name ('blobblob')...

Q: Why is the default umask value for useradd in openSuSE set to 022?

Master of CelebrationI recently built a very simple test environment with oepnSuSE. Ah, you're probably looking for /usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl
You can get the list of files it installed with dpkg-query -L awstats

@Kevin How did you find out the frontend -cmd? The query command returned a heap of commands and things...
(I mean the awstats.pl -cmd as a frontend-cmd)
@Kevin Any idea how to find the manual for the program?
19:17
@hhh All about knowing where to look. It's probably going to be in a bin folder.
As for the manual, awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_faq.html is the best I can suggest. I don't actually use it.
