Folks, when trying to boot in UEFI mode, I ran into this issue.

I'm inclined to just get a new card - life is too short. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Of course, I could alternatively abandon the whole UEFI thing. Can I be certain that after replacing the card, it won't complain about some other piece of hardware?

@FaheemMitha nothing wrong with taking a discussion here but as a general rule, it's better to use the question-specific rooms instead.

Both for the unlikely case that there's another conversation going on here which you would disrupt (granted, not often an issue in this particular room but it is one on others) and, more importantly, because the comments from the question are imported to the chat room and then others can easily find the relevant conversation without having to search the transcript for the relevant date.

@terdon Fair points. But there is usually little going on here. And it's true, the discussion is automatically linked to the question. But usually it's not a big deal. One can always add a link to the chat if necessary. In general chat there are sometimes people who can weigh in. Granted, this doesn't happen much here either.

And the trouble with creating a new room for every question's discussion is you get a lot of rooms with basically nothing in them.

@FaheemMitha The main issue is that when you use this room, the conversation is lost. If you use the one associated with the question, then it will always be easy to find, even years later when someone clicks on the link. By moving here, you essentially negate the whole point of moving to chat instead of using comments.

@FaheemMitha Then there was no conversation had. That's not a problem. But at least you can always know whether a conversation was had while if you do it here, the transcript will move on and it will be very hard to find and any link left on the question is useless.

@terdon I guess so. But like I said, one can always add a link to chat. But personally, I rarely find these conversations to be so consequential.

@FaheemMitha You can't. That's the problem. You just gave a link to this room but no indication of where in the years of transcript the relevant discussion was.

@FaheemMitha You didn't though. And, anyway, why? There's a perfectly good system for this, there's no reason to spam the main room with question-specific discussions.

@FaheemMitha Then they can go to the relevant room where their discussion will be clearly linked to the question they are discussing, won't interfere with the main room and will be easy to find in future.

@terdon If they know that discussion is happening, yes.

Leaving a comment like "come ping me in chat if you need more help" is fine, but ignoring the system generated room after a discussion has already started in order to bring it here where it will be incomplete and very hard to follow doesn't seem like a good idea.
