and... my btrfs partition foobared :D

11 hours later…
15:07
@Braiam :-( — what happened?
15:20
Also, not sure if there is a RHEL person around—but if so, could you check unix.stackexchange.com/a/301408/977 — I'd think you should be able to install a RHSA on RHEL, but OP says otherwise.
@derobert yeah the RHSA lists packages for RHEL 5 so it's a supported configuration
Hi @StephenKitt and @derobert. What happened to this room? Did everyone leave?
@FaheemMitha Clearly a result of naming it /dev/chat instead of talk(1). I bet the device blocked.
Either that, or the room had to be evacuated so they could remove the asbestos...
I presume that's part of the construction of all chat rooms.
15:51
@derobert Let's rename it then.
Though I vote for Super Fun Unix Party Chat Room. Maybe that'll fetch 'em.
As long as we promise enough liquor to make root keel over...
16:07
@derobert You never answered re Zombieland.
I haven't seen it
@derobert Ok. I'm not generally a fan of horror films, but I must admit a strange fascination for zombie films. I've seen quite a few.
Actually, I don't watch horror films otherwise.
17:04
@derobert bad leaf, something about a block, I am going to write a mail
and an on_bug error
it will be fun :D
17:23
@Braiam oh dear, I hope you have backups
17:35
@derobert nah, the on bug is hit due the inconsistence of the whatever is failing, data is OK
17:59
hi
18:40
so, mail were sent and I didn't knew gmail did word wrapping
19:27
Hi @Braiam. What's happening?
@FaheemMitha in summary: small annoyances piling up
@Braiam Oh. Sorry to hear that. At least they are not large annoyances.
nah, mostly is about having to login to all the sites again, because I forgot to copy the .mozilla directory
and the weather doesn't help...
20:03
@Braiam Bad weather? It's been raining here. Seemingly for weeks. But it seems to have eased off now.
Hi, I have a question about running Raspberry Pi headless - I want to get Raspbian GUI to run on my laptop, but every time I change the boot options in PuTTY, and it asks if I want a reboot, it never actually reboots.
@FaheemMitha here we go by temp between 29-31C and showers
@Braiam That's a little cooler than we get here. What's the humidity?
between 79 and 90%
20:21
@Braiam Yes, it's high here most of the time too. Are you near the sea. We're walking distance from the Arabian Sea here. Once it used to come up to our doorstep.
about 600m from a river and a kilometer and some from the sea
@Braiam Which river?
@derobert Would USD 8.60 with a thousand free nationwide min and 500 mb data plan be considered a good deal in the US?
@FaheemMitha Ozama's river, my city is the oldest of the American continent
20:46
@Braiam Looking it up now...
@FaheemMitha I'm not sure you can get a cell plan period for under $10/mo. At least not postpaid.
21:01
@derobert postpaid is a lie
you pay before you use the service :/
@Braiam errr.... you mean there?
well, yeah, anecdotal experience and all
because I'm on a postpaid plan...
when you started paying?
yeah, I pay for June's service sometime in July
21:05
ha! If I contract a plan today I have to pay a deposit, and when bill comes the fraction of the month I used (here they have fixed billing days, dunno why) plus the next
they do that here if you don't pass a credit check
@derobert No, that's an Indian plan translated into dollars.
And yes, you actually prepay the postpaid plan here too. I think. And then more later if you use extra, I think.
Hmmm. I'll have to double check (though I'd have to dig out the first bill to be sure…) but I think here it's that the give you the bill sometime near the start of the month, but you don't actually have to pay it for a month or so.
so you wind up paying after
well, looking at the current bill, looks to work out to paying a few days before the month is up, actually.
@derobert Hmm. Morally speaking, I think that counts as paying before. :-) The bill date is what counts.
