I have a question that was probably asked before but I can't find it: Why *esk* doesn't autocomplete to Desktop by pressing <TAB>? It used to work in Fedora 12, but it does not in Fedora 20.

I've seen this comment many times on Unix & Linux as well as on other sites that use the phrasing "backticks have been deprecated", with respect to shells such as Bash & Zsh.
Is this statement true or false?
@terdon - as was I. I think they can never truly deprecate them though given they're pervasiveness in probably millions of shell scripts everywhere. It would cause a lot of chaos. I was equally surprised that we didn't have that Q here, so I was happy to add it 8-)
@terdon - I figure over time it will get 100 just b/c we/I can reference it any time the topic comes up in other Q's too
makes sense, I might have to start going back through some old Q that has a wrong A and fixing it, not sure how you can increase the odds on that badge 8-)
