I've got a very weird SSH behavior and it's making me a bit nervous. Basically the progress meter is totally bogus: so bogus that it's nearly useless. And I fear that there may be something else going on (more on this below).

@terdon No problem; it was one of those where I was quite consciously trying to ensure it didn't get dumped anywhere else. I am not sure by what mechanism it could have been avoided. Perhaps rather than vote to close, just flag for deletion?
yeah the choices are confusing, that one had 2-3 reasons for closing when I got it, I believe i was the last to vote on it, and I rushed to do it before leaving my office today

i picked the middle one which had 2 votes (i think) and the radio button below that one also had 2 votes, i should've picked the lower radio button, i wished it would show which users picked which in there,
sometimes when reviewing i'll notice something a sec. after i click ok or whatever and wished i could reach back and grab it. often i'll go and directly fix whatever it was if possible but sometimes you can't undo

Personally, if my regular expressions were approaching this level of complexity, I would just switch the whole operation to Perl. This one deals with an arbitrary number of open braces/parentheses/curly braces:
