@Malachi What DoB are they setting, their target or their own? The latter has proven to be ineffective and I have no idea why you'd search based on DoB in case of the first.
they search based on a first, last and DOB all have to match the party record so they know (as do we) that they are getting the right person
it is for a criminal record search.
the DOB keeps thousands of "John Johnson"'s from showing up in the search.

If it's criminal record search, wouldn't a SSN be better?
Or is it a public thing?
it costs something like $20, but other than that it is public, and most of the time the person doing the search only knows the name and the DOB.
for this search you have to have the Last Name and DOB then you are given the possible parties list, and you get to pick one and only one.
once you put in the search criteria and click search you are charged, whether that person is in the system or not. there is going to be a disclaimer for that.
make sure you ping me @Mast, I am working on it right now, so I don't have chat up.
14:29
@Malachi I didn't know there were still companies around doing such things. Ah well, if there's a market somebody will fill it.
@Mast I work for the Judicial System of the State
we are sort of in the business
:)
Lol
You could say that, yea.
@Malachi In that case there shouldn't be any minors in the system. Just not allowing them to be searched client-side sounds like a bad place IMO.
14:46
@Mast it's going to be a server side deal too.
there are minors in the reporting Database, and there are restrictions on the report side, but we want to catch as much as we can client side before passing to the DAL
@Malachi The system they're looking into should be a 'stripped' version of the original. There shouldn't be any minors left in the database to accidentally give away.
15:04
I am saying that there are already things put into place to keep people from getting Minor Results.
although it would be nice to have a separate database with adults only, but we have a hard enough time managing 4 environments for development. it's a 3rd party application and database, so we can't even structure it. it would be hell trying to make a data transfer work like that daily
I have to deal with what I have been handed. it's like round filters into square filter slots on a spacecraft in outer space, @Mast
in a utopia IT Department I would say, hey let's do this instead
@Malachi I know the problem, they're doing it one way and you can't change it.
I work for the state government is the problem
^^
They love legacy, I know.
15:21
don't change anything that you don't have to
The police here is still running DOS on half their systems...
The rest of the government is still hooked on XP. They got a contract with M$ for support after EoL
15:53
lol
I believe it
