Lets see... First time I ever played D&D? A bunch of the guys I hung out with at high-school got bored of WH40k and decided to give D&D a go instead. Great for me, cause I never had the money to get into 40K, and I could borrow my DMs books, so free fun!
I was magic crazy at that point, so ended up making a Wizard who somehow had a pseudodragon familiar. We had a Cleric, Fighter and another Wizard along for the ride. No bard, no pally, no one with any amount of charisma.
@Nyoze That's almost identical to my first D&D experience, except we didn't want 2 Wizards in the party, so my "friends" talked me into playing a Monk. (To be fair, they didn't know what they were doing.)
Then we got wiped by a tiny group of goblins that wasn't even meant to be a challenge.
