Too late. The chat has probably been "sanitized".
I came looking for answers and some confirmation and saw the avatar of Cesar (staff and moderator)
04:58
@Mari-LouA Pretty much nothing in this room has been removed. Feel free to read through everything - I think someone also requested you look through the "chat with aiq" room but that's private and I don't know if you have access (I definitely don't).
05:58
@AIQ I think you underestimate the ELL mods' intelligence and integrity. For all you know they may have received several flags drawing their attention to suspicious behaviour in the past. They may have even suspected it themselves but without proof, what can anyone do?
@hyper-neutrino I came here looking for an explanation but I did not see that thread at all. My fault, I should have searched further back. However one user's comments have been deleted.
If you're referring to Void's deleted messages, don't worry, those are just pings pointing people to the other chat room, so you aren't missing anything there.
@AIQ . The problem is that Stack Exchange allows users to create more than one account on any one site. It's not against the rules for me to create a new account with a different username. It's against the rules to upvote myself and to abuse any earned privileges. I am sad to see how upset you are, it is upsetting, but it's never right to openly accuse anyone of wrongdoing without proof.
@hyper-neutrino If it counts for something, I never received any inbox notification. Someone tried to "double ping" me. Didn't even know that feature even existed.
Oh, no notification at all? I'm not exactly sure why you didn't receive anything; would've thought @Mari would ping you (the "Lou A" after in Void's message should not matter because of the spaces).
And yeah, I would say super-pinging was unnecessary there. They got the syntax wrong though so you wouldn't have gotten anything for that.
Anyway, I don't really understand what will work for pings, and chat is overall just really weird ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Glorfindel “We've asked the Community Managers to have a look, a couple of times. (Not just before/during the election.)” I suspected as much but if a second, third, or fourth account does not upvote the owner's contributions, I don't think anything can be done, can it?
06:34
But... if someone had another older account on a different SE site with a different username, and that older account was suspended for irregularities in the preceding 12 months that would mean the user (with multiple accounts) was not eligible to stand for election on any site across the network.
06:55
@Mari-LouA It's tough to wait, but I think we should wait for a statement from the CMs and/or ELL mods rather than speculating. For the sake of Void, if nothing else: Void is probably feeling pretty bad at the moment already, and people speculating (about things that might be completely untrue or worse than what they actually did) is likely to make them feel even worse.
I also want to know what happened; I'm a voting ELL user too. Presumably the CMs and ELL mods know that they owe the community some kind of explanation, so we just have to wait for them to post it. (I'm a mod elsewhere, but non-ELL mods don't have any more information than what's public about this issue, so I'm equally curious as you.)
07:20
@Randal'Thor comments on chat cannot be deleted, so my supposition is out there. The user has been demodded and suspended, so something was fishy and the user is paying the price. I may sympathise that they may be feeling distressed, but to demod a newly elected moderator is pretty serious. After all, it clearly says the user was suspended for voting irregularities on their account page.
Yet, something has to be done to fix the following page ell.stackexchange.com/election @Glorfindel, it has Void's flair etc. and their black diamond.
@Mari-LouA It doesn't for me. Maybe there's some caching on your end?
@Mari-LouA exactly. Staff is looking into this, they may need some more time to make a decision or (equally important) figure out the right way to communicate this to everybody involved. I don't envy their position right now ...

I see Void's flair with diamond too BTW. Might be a regional caching issue.
I'm sure that will be solved as well :)
@Randal'Thor I still see their flair. And I've refreshed the page a couple of times.
No, I see 1 rep and no diamond, as in the screenshot.
07:39
@Randal'Thor My eyes are playing tricks on me.
in any case, I can still see the pre-suspension flair.
on my side

@Mari-LouA Here I am in chat after vowing not to ever again, but I have to point out that sock puppeting is not that rare on ELL among new users that are very engaged with the site and anxious to get more privileges. We have some very valuable and well-respected members that have a checkered past in that regard.
Often a mod message reminding people that if they have multiple accounts, they're not allowed to interact with each other is enough.
12:44
@ColleenV Yes, but the user was no newcomer, was he? And they nominated themself, so not a wise move unless they thought they could cover their tracks or they sincerely preferred to be a moderator rather than allowing the first candidate to breeze through the election. Who knows? Overall a week's suspension, considering that they were a mod–albeit for around 48 hours–is very lenient.
I have to leave
