@ColleenV what's with the silence by SE? No official statement? Announcement? Is there the remotest chance that once the suspension has ended the newly-elected moderator regains their position? Surely not?

Given that a suspension rules you out from nomination for a whole year, I highly doubt an election winner getting suspended instead of getting promoted would end in regaining their position. I think we just have to be patient; if we're taking into consideration what some mods have said, they've suspected this but were never able to confirm it and I'm sure it's quite shocking news and they'd rather give the community a satisfactory and in-depth enough explanation.

Who knows though. Let's just hope the silence is deliberation and not just acting slowly or trying to cover things up.

It's better to handle this in a first-time-right approach than making a judgement call which turns out to be wrong.

@Mast Why complicated? The newly-elected moderator cannot (should not) be reinstated. The person who arrived 2nd receives the honour. But I suppose not being privy to details means I am in no position to suggest what is best.

It is very unfortunate it's taking this long and I'd much preferred it wouldn't. I've asked for a public statement before on the situation. However, I can not change this. I can tell it's still being worked on.
