@EddieKal Since forever? I will have to dig up the meta post from that time someone was trying to figure out how to say “make a shit” politely and someone freaked out. “Ew gross” is not a valid close reason, but don’t think that all such posts are innocent
There have been quite a view interventions required in the past for porn sourced questions and purposefully inflammatory example sentences, usually involving violence against women
I don’t think the tone of your meta post is constructive when posted as a moderator, even though I empathize with your frustration. Sometimes it’s better to wait a little for your patience to return.
@ColleenV I thought I was simply channeling JR. I agree that I probably let my frustration show through. I totally agree it's better to wait for patience to return. I have indeed waited a long time on another similar matter.
Since it is a team job I will wait for Em or Glorfindel to be the patience daemon if they so wish, and I will remain the standing-up-for-new-community-members-who-are-on-the-verge-of-being-driven-away-if-they-haven't-already daemon.
> @M.A.R. If you don't stop being such a great source of wisdom and support, eventually they are going to follow the strings on me and find you at the end.
@M.A.R. I posted before I saw your comment, so I guess I owe you a coke
@EddieKal I think conflating whether the question should be closed, and the ridiculous close reason is not a good idea. I voted to close that question, but not because of the first example sentence.
They put dictionary definitions in, but they completely ignored all of the explanatory text of them.
@ColleenV What became of the principle that we should treat new contributors nice and kind? I did see two of the votes were not YUK-inspired but still that begs the question: has this question been judged by the same standard as other questions with similar issues. And I see an easy answer to that: obviously not.
