@snailboat it’s not just grammar. There are plenty of topics where people who believe they are smart have this feeling that they should be able to deduce everything they need to know from the passing exposure they have had.

If I had a nickel for every end user who told me that I could add some feature to an incredibly complex algorithm in a few minutes with a for loop... well I would still be annoyed, but I could at least get a coffee out of it

I try not to be that person, although I probably am sometimes lol

in a lot of ways the internet has accelerated this kind of thinking...

Who knows why... There are a number of different reasons. Maybe it's a mistake/lapsus. Maybe they think they're right (can you really blame someone for that if they bear no ill or selfish intent?). Maybe they don't think it's that important that all the details are correct as long as they get their point across.

You can narrow it down when you correct them and see their reaction. (:
