ell.stackexchange.com/questions/171213 What exactly is the difference between in a similar fashion and in similar fashion? In a casual fashion vs. in casual fashion? In a dramatic fashion is five times less common than in dramatic fashion in COCA, why? Also, doesn't similar fashion invite a because there are obviously different kinds of (a) fashion in which something can be done? I'm more interested in the noun manner and whether you can say in similar manner.

I think perhaps by leaving the noun uncountable, the speaker doesn't want to specify it further, and it's like "let's just describe it as dramatic and stop there". It's more definite in a way, but I know that's a very wrong way to say this; it's more "we don't care if there's more than one dramatic fashion in which one might do this". Maybe it's not as wrong to describe it as definite because of examples like open the window when there are multiple windows in the room.
I don't want to leave these comments under the question because they're really just my own speculations and intuition.

I actually have got tired of my native tougue after learning English.
afterwards I learnt Japanese because I felt I have learnt English long enough and got tired of it and wanted to get the fresh feeling of a new language.
that's when I was in undergraduate school, when I didn't have much schoolwork in science to occupy me.

@CowperKettle I don't think it can be summarized that simply

Onfim (Old Novgorodian: онѳиме, Onfime; also, Anthemius of Novgorod) was a boy who lived in Novgorod in the 13th century. He left his notes and homework exercises scratched in soft birch bark (beresta) which was preserved in the clay soil of Novgorod. Onfim, who was six or seven at the time, wrote in Old Novgorodian; besides letters and syllables, he drew "battle scenes and drawings of himself and his teacher". == Background == Novgorod, now known as Veliky Novgorod, is the important administrative center of the Novgorod Oblast. Some 200 kilometres (120 mi) south of Saint Petersburg, the city is...
> The research also revealed:
Girls are nearly twice as likely to have arguments with both their mother and father over their clothes;
Girls are more likely to have arguments with their mother over household chores;
Boys were twice as likely to argue with their mothers (but not their fathers) about politics;
Boys were also more likely to have arguments with their mothers over homework.
So the basic fact is: the mothers are hit the hardest.

@userr2684291 Have a look at the cookie monster explanation.

A: l am a young king, but l am king -- why no article in front of the second "king"?

LawrenceLet's look at a concrete example before going deeper. Consider your screen name. Saying that you are a cookie monster conveys the idea that there is a group of entities that are each called cookie monster, and you are one of them. Saying that you are the cookie monster conveys either that the ...

I am far more tired of the hassle of getting food than being tired of the same food.

though I have been very tired of the same food.
I don't understand why those eatery runners wouldn't get tired of making the same food every day for many years.

Q: Using "fashion" countably vs. uncountably: "in (a) timely/similar/dramatic fashion"

DeansueI have always thought fashion is countable when used to signify a particular manner (e.g., I will get that done in a timely fashion), but I just encountered these sentences in the Oxford Dictionaries (ODE): The special wine stored in Odysseus's palace against his return is described in app...
