@WillHunting I am.
And I know who you are, you had the same username before. (:
01:05
I accidentally fell asleep and now it's 2 a.m. and I don't know what to do.
@snailplane They do.
I've also heard servo and ute from Australians.
So, I came across another interesting word while I was looking for an interesting name for a ship in a video game: redamancy : act of loving in return Despite his lack of redamancy, her passion for him was unabated for several years. It's a "lost" word from 1656, so only use it if you want to test whether someone will ask a question if they don't understand something ;)

@ColleenV Unabated itself is an interesting word.

Hi @snailplane how r u spending these days?
13:59
I came across this opening line of a newspaper report -
> The spin-doctors of the Congress and to a greater degree of the Bharatiya Janata Party have denuded the discipline of history with their subjective, even uninformed, reflections on Tipu Sultan.
Is it a right sentence?
That "to" seems problematic.

@Man_From_India The to is very much needed there. In fact, without it, it would then be a wrong sentence. The phrase is to a greater degree.
15:21
@WillHunting i understand, but does it agree with the other part of the sentence?
15:46
@Man_From_India It does, and it means The spin doctors of the Congress and to a greater degree the spin-doctors of the Party...
16:10
So that means "to a greater degree" is part of the NP, in my original example sentence?
16:34
@Man_From_India I think the use of "denuded" might be the real problem in that sentence
Is the sentence trying to say they are rewriting history?
16:52
@ColleenV don't know. I was browsing through the headlines. And I happened to read the first line of this report and that first line was what I quoted here.
My problem is -
"the spin-doctors of congress have VERB-ed" - fine
But the "and-part" seems strange, mostly because of "to".
> The spin-doctors of the Congress and (to a greater degree) of the Bharatiya Janata Party have denuded the discipline of history with their subjective, even uninformed, reflections on Tipu Sultan.
I think it's a very awkward sentence. I think it's trying to say "The spin-doctors in the Congress, who are mostly members of the Bharatiya Janata Party..."
17:08
@ColleenV ahhh thanks it somewhat makes sense. But as u pointed out it really strange.
Btw who knows what Spin-doctors are.

:PR Experts or managers
19:19
@Man_From_India They are people who try to mislead the public so that the perception of the facts is favorable to their "side"
The above is a better definition.
I have a very unfavorable view of folks who twist the facts for political reasons
It's not only politics, unfortunately... corporate interests are a major source of spin, too.

The only thing I spin is the washing machine.
