@ATaco I kept iterating and now I have little dudes blowing eachother up for territory

codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/277543/115910 Does this look like a good method of annotating a solution? I feel like it might not work well with more complicated nesting
Honestly it's whatever you feel gets the meaning of your answer across the best
Some explanation styles may be better suited depending on the complexity of the answer

@AlephSquirrel Looks about like how I do my golflang solutions--just make sure to chunk it up if it's too long otherwise is all I can really say
important questions here
At best that's a harassment suite, right?

@lyxal That was a hint.

Since nginx config files appear to be Turing complete, someone should try golfing in them. It's basically an entire scripting language
11:02
@mousetail'he-him' citation needed on TCness, unless you specifically mean njs which yeah but that's just js
11:13
Hmmm maybe not but it has enough string manipulation for a lot of challenges

I was clicking "random game", went to a different tab, and had to double check what tab that was :p

never change, philosophy.SE
or maybe do change i don't know
IMHO: Yes. Everyone is racist, you just need to make a conscious effort every day to counteract it

> Many developers prefer Java because it is a true object-oriented programming (OOP) language with superior documentation and support.
- my class
Superior to what?
15:08
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ironic thing is, java isnt even true OOP
kotlin is more OOP than java lol because primtitives
I think the statement is true, "many" is an ill defined term and I think you'll find many developers who think OOP is the bets and Java is the epitome of that, regardless of if it's true.
I think it's true that many developers prefer Java because they were raised on Design Patterns™️ and Portability™️ and 20 years out of date university CS education, but the statement is false because documentation and support don't even enter the picture :P
@mousetail'he-him' or conversely, the only thing that actually makes someone racist is failing or refusing to combat the racial biases that everyone acquires
racist thoughts do not a racist make

@lyxal Someone made regex play chess: nicholas.carlini.com/writing/2025/regex-chess.html

ah my favorite pastime
something too esoteric? create a new programming language!
@mousetail'he-him' heh i just beat it using scholars mate, its not very good at being a chess engine :P
> While its primary purpose is to serve as The One True Debugger, printf also happens to be Turing complete. (See "Control-Flow Bending: On the Effectiveness of Control-Flow Integrity" where we introduced this in an actual, published, academic paper. The things you can get away with sometimes.)

@mousetail'he-him' bah, I mistyped my move, so lost my game
17:24
I'll give a 10 rep bounty to the first person to defeat it
@Seggan @mousetail'he-him' already did
Screenshot?
uhh
i closed it
i remeber the moves by memory tho
1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Bc5 3. Qf3 Bxf2 4. Kxf2 a5 5. Qxf7#
i wonder if i can just replicate the same game
It's regex so I assume it's deterministic
I trust you, what answer would you like a bounty on?
uhh lets go with my most recent one

you want those 40 rep how? in upvotes?
cause i cant exactly bounty 40 rep :P
17:38
fortunately for you i dont have any (tho if youd ask me in about 4 days i will lol)
Or you can just defeat 4 more terrible chess AIs
@mousetail'he-him' just reran the same game
Nice
(I don't actually care about the 40 rep, dwabi)
👍
i upvoted 4 anyway

You know you're in deep shit when the professor of the course you're about to take emails you a week in advance of the first day of classes with a personalized warning about freshmen rarely being able to survive his class 💀
Like it's specific to my circumstances too, he did his homework in warning me that I should run while I still can
Too bad I am Stubborn(TM)
>:3
(good luck)
The average self-reported hours/week for this course is 20 lmao
Oh.
(ngl I'm also surprised people actually track their time enough to self report hours/week but still wow)
They have you round to within 3 hours
still
I couldn't round anything on the scale of more than 2 days to within 3 hours
it's a struggle as is at 1 day
23:01
yeah, for me I just did it more based on vibes
like yeah this felt like a 4-6
and it would be easy with intentional time tracking but
this felt like a 7-9
ah. lol
Every time I try to estimate time on vibes it's like HILARIOUSLY wrong
I try to overestimate and it's like twice as long as I say anyways

Hofstadter's law is a self-referential adage, coined by Douglas Hofstadter in his book Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid (1979) to describe the widely experienced difficulty of accurately estimating the time it will take to complete tasks of substantial complexity: Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law. The law is often cited by programmers in discussions of techniques to improve productivity, such as The Mythical Man-Month or extreme programming. == History == In 1979, Hofstadter introduced the law in connection with...

> In India,1st April is considered an April fools day. Every financial year (April to March) in India,31st March is the last date to file income tax to the government. While in India the taxes are low compared to developed nations from Europe and America, the tax does not match with the pathetic facilities provided to the public by its public services. For this reasons 1st April is considered an April fools day, as its also compliant with the April fools day worldwide.
Somebody's editorializing on Wikipedia xD
