@UnrelatedString I love the idea of a popcorn bag
like is it dedicated to popcorn?
02:17
I guess LMAO
also turns out she didn't intentionally put it in the laundry either
and this isn't a load she started
so it actually was my mom who somehow put it in by accident and doesn't remember how she could have possibly done that

Got registered for my last class
I'm gonna die lol
Soviet union WWII machine learning?
oddly specific course
CMU's estimate of the number of hours a week this would be is 67, some statistics based on the course evals suggest 59, either way this is going to be a loooot of work lol
@lyxal No it's just a history class on the Soviet Union during WWII
the "ML PL" stands for "military and political"
ah that makes more sense
Why is there 2 instances of the same lab at the same time? (Lab I: Intr Chmy Anl on Tuesday 2pm and Thursday 2pm - It has what appears to be the same lab twice in each column)
The full course list is:
- 33-142: Physics II for Engineering and Physics Students [12 units]
- 09-221: Laboratory I: Introduction to Chemical Analysis [12 units]
- 09-348: Inorganic Chemistry [10 units]
- 76-101: First-Year Writing [9 units]
- 79-267: The Soviet Union in WWII: Military, Political, and Social History [9 units]
- 82-192: Elementary Russian II [12 units]
- 99-101: Core@CMU [3 units] (just an asynchronous course everyone has to take on like, surviving or something?)
@lyxal Not sure, I'm guessing someone entered something wrong
more likely than the alternative of multitasking labs lol
03:26
I'm curious if it's like, one is the time you're required to be in the lab and the longer one is the amount of time they have it reserved for?
Since presumably it would take different amounts of time to do the lab work
Then why not have one single time?
(I know you don't know that's a pondering question)
Maybe something to do with how the registrar assigns classrooms
went to the homepage of CMU subreddit and saw a familiar looking image
feels like I've seen the top hot post somewhere before
dunno where

@rydwolf this class scheduling looks so nice like what is this using
CMU's student portal thing
neat
I like the schedule planner's appearance even more, it has curved corners for the boxes and you can enter courses in a particular order to manipulate the color scheme
(for some reason the planned schedule designer and the final schedule visualizer use entirely different UI)
@rydwolf I see nothing comsci-related here
based
I took one computer science related course this semester and it was a graduate level hardware security course taught by the Hertzbleed guy and I just showed up one day. I plan to exclusively interact with the CS department in that manner lmao

nice :3
nice
I did not realize how much work is involved in writing a paper though and I put it off until finals week, which led to me consuming 700mg of caffeine and staying awake in a computer lab for 30 hours straight locked in purely on paper-writing which was...an experience
30 hours straight of paper writing sounds like a nightmare
But yeah I think I might take an applied crypto course or maybe a complexity theory one, also via just showing up one day
@Redz Fun fact: whenever your brain gets all mushy you can just drink a bunch of water and for some reason it works? I think I drank like a gallon of water an hour over those 30 hours but oh boy did it work
I have slept like 14 hours every night for the last week though so maybe it was a bad idea
I shall grab that tip and run
04:01
I'm sort of in an abusive relationship with my physical manifestation
Like I'm nice to it most of the time
and get enough sleep and water and food and all that
and sometimes it's stay awake for 50 hours time
good luck human body
relatable

average hnq
I mean, the answer is yes
I think it's a good question
not saying it's a bad question (it's not philosophy.SE after all), just amusing :3

@rydwolf Yup this turned out to be it, they have one room reserved for the longer time block and a room directly above it reserved for the shorter one
Upon further analysis the first room is a massive laboratory and the second room is a lecture hall
Kids these days moving messages before I have a change to 11 them smh
And while I was in the middle of doing so too
